Valentines Day ideas

I swear Christmas was just here followed by Keira's birthday so I have no ideas on V Day gifts for kids.  Ideas?  I am trying to rack my brain to think if I ever gave gifts before but I think I usually do a spring outfit or something like that.

Re: Valentines Day ideas

  • I got the kids each a $1.00 box of chocolates from Target. I've been completely overwhelmed with the amount of stuff we seem to have, so I want to avoid stuff.  My plan is to make them each a valentine and have them make valentines for us/each other.

Last year I got them candy, pj's.  DD got some my little pony mini figures and DS got some matchbox cars.

  • We don't do gifts, but will sometimes put together a goody bag for them with art stuff, maybe a puzzle or game. I think this year we might get them Big Hero 6. We also usually bake and decorate cookies. Since its on a Saturday this year, we'll probably take them somewhere like a museum or bowling.
  • I love doing something for dd for Vday...I remember always getting something from my parents.

I ended up ordering a necklace set on etsy for dd and I that are hearts that go together. More than I usually do for Vday but it was because i wanted them!

I got some frozen chocolate covered pretzles and a frozen chapter book.

Last year she got a couple chapter books and a small princess lego set.

  • They each get a new pack of underwear (that's what my mom used to give me).  It's a weird tradition, but hey.  And I got them a dvd as a joint gift.

  • We're taking the kids to Monster Jam on Saturday. Nothing says I Love You better than monster trucks crushing things, right? :)

  • Lisa, Walt and the boys are going to Monster Jam on Sunday.   My brother is going instead of me, though.  I'm staying home and making dinner for them after.

I'm sending DH and DS, too!  it always struck me as odd that it falls on Valentine's weekend, and this year V-day itself!

  • Both boys are getting tshirts; Liam is getting Paw Patrol and Jake is getting Minecraft.

  • Heather's birthday was yesterday and her party is on the 15th. Every year I am a Valentine's Day "Scrooge" because all of my extra brain power is funneled into birthday celebrations. The kids are lucky to have Valentine's Day cards to send their friends.... ;-)

  • So I'm the only mom foolish enough to be going to Monster Jam? It didn't even cross my mind to send Steve and the kids alone.

I've spent all my free time getting things together for the school's carnation distribution friday (collecting money, organizing the cards, grouping them by student) and I'll spend Thursday night organizing all 600 flowers.

I need an afternoon to myself. I'm saving that great idea of staying home from Monster Jam for next year :)

Having a 3.5 week old was kind-of get-out-of-truck-jam card.  ;-)  Can't take a baby to something like that!

  • I got G a spiral notebook and some markers, he likes to keep his drawings "gether." I also got him some Cars pjs and I was going to pick up a Paw Patrol t-shirt for him at Target, if I can *actually* get there before Saturday. I also got him those washcloths that expand in the tub from the $1 store, he loves those.

His birthday is in 11 days so I try not to overload him on Vday.
