Commute Question - N. Versailles to Gibsonia

Hi ladies!
I can't post this question to FB so I'm hoping a few of you are around and can answer on here.

Does anyone know how the commute is from N. Versailles to Gibsonia? There is a job I may be interested in but I'm not sure if the commute would be worth it.

Thanks!!
~Bonnie

Re: Commute Question - N. Versailles to Gibsonia

  • Where in Gibsonia? Gibsonia's mailing address is vast. It goes from just past Shaler to Mars (parts of Mars are Gibsonia because Treesdale).

  • Well I don't have experience of that commute I can't imagine it would be pleasant unless it was during off hours

  • How close are each of the locations to the turnpike? I don't know that I would sign up for that commute. Especially during the winter.

I was going to add that if you have easy access to the turnpike it isn't too bad. That stretch of turnpike is pretty well maintained in the winter, I used to drive Monroeville to the Butler Valley interchange which is Route 8, pretty regularly during rush hour without issues. If you are going the Parkway to 28 to Route 8 or 910, then I would say heck no.

I drove from Mt. Troy/Millvale to Route 910/Middle Road for 4 years and it was about a 30 minute drive, 40 if the roads were bad because West Deere sucks at snow removal. I took 28 to Route 8 then 910. You can also get off in Harmar  and catch 910. They were about equal time wise.

  • looks like it's near Kean Theatre / Eden Hall Upper Elementary school area. Google says that taking the turnpike would be about 50 minutes without traffic and taking Rt. 8 would be 40 minutes without traffic.

Oh, it is by St. Barnabas.

If you have to take the Parkway for any of it, I would pass. You have to drive into town then back out. The turnpike does avoid all of that even if it does take a bit longer. Are they taking you off at Butler Valley or Cranberry?

ETA: We used to have two employees that commuted from Irwin/Monroeville to Gibsonia and they had no issues. It was about a 40-45 min. trip via the turnpike.

  • Since I live in the same general area as you do, I think it would get old fast.   But it depends on if you like to drive/don't mind commuting.   Rt 48 gets so backed up in evening rush hour (which is how I assume you'd get to/from the turnpike).
