QOTD 3/5

Do you shop at warehouse stores like Sam's Club or BJs?

Re: QOTD 3/5

  • The only similar store near us is Costco and we got a membership when we were first married.  We rarely shopped there though, so we cancelled since the majority of what we eat is fresh food.  I know Costco sells produce and meat and stuff, but I'm unsure of the quality.  My ILs have a membership so if we do need something in bulk (like the energy drink that is the only remedy for my migraines) we just ask them to pick it up.

  • No, we don't really get our money's worth at places like that.  It's hard when you eat a lot of fresh stuff, like @ilovecatsandknitting said.

  • No it's not worth it for us.  I don't find it to be cheaper either.  I can definitely get items cheaper at the supermarket with sales.  MIL is always trying to buy things for us at Costco, but I know that I can get things cheaper.  Shop Rite sells the same sized Polly-O string cheese as Costco for the same price.  It's actually cheaper because there's no membership fee.

I only want to be a Costco member for the chicken.  That chicken is amazing!
  • We're members of Costco. We would pay for it if we had to, but my parents have the business card and we're on their account. We use it for paper towels, toilet paper, and dog food. We love their rotisserie chickens, too! I like to buy some fruits and veggies there, like berries, bananas, and cauliflower. We've also gotten good deals on some clothes during the weight loss.

  • I have a Sam's Club business membership which is great for office products. We'll use it occasionally for personal purchases, mainly when we're having parties. There isn't one located near where we live, so it's not convenient to go there either.

  • H and I go to Sam's Club since there's one a little shy of an hour away from us. Most of what we get there are things like bottled water, household products (paper towels, toilet paper) and occasionally frozen foods if it's a better deal.

  • We are members at BJ's. I stock up on paper products and cleaning stuff. I also get diapers the cheapest there. There's always a pampers coupon and you can double up with a manufacturer coupon, so I usually get $5-6 off a box. I also love getting shampoo like twice a year. I also stock up on freezer meats. Our new go to is dignoro pizza. 3 for $12, and there's usually a $3 coupon... $3 a pizza - yes please.

  • Nope we never get our use from buying in bulk.
  • In NY, we had a BJs membership that we used mostly for gas. When we moved to MD, we got a Costco membership, but only used it once. It's so crowded in there and I can't deal with lines that wrap around the store. Plus, we don't have room to store a lot of bulk items. We won't be renewing.

I'm thinking about ordering from boxed.com though. A lot of bloggers I read have been talking about it. There's no membership fee and the prices seem pretty good.

  • We have a BJs membership through my parents. We almost never use it. We did go there last weekend though and I went to get bar soap for DH and it was more than at the regular store.

  • We have a Sams Club membership. Just went last weekend for a long overdue trip. We get a lot of paper products there plus certain food items.
  • We love Costco. Their meats are fantastic as are their seafood and really everything. I've never bought something low quality from Costco because their quality control standards are high. Some thing can be cheaper at the grocery store but we do buy in bulk and you can't beat Costco's quality/pricing when it comes to their meats. They really are a step above the standard grocery store.
