Re: NBR: If you could change your career.

  • I'm a nurse and I honestly regret it. People suck, the healthcare system is broken, and I feel like we go to crazy extremes to keep people with no hope for a meaningful recovery alive yet others can't get basic healthcare. And don't even get me started on people who call an ambulance for a sore throat...
I would be a science teacher. I had so much fun in school with bunson burners and little experiments. I'd love to be the Bill Nye to my local high school.

  • I got a business degree. Part of me wishes I could have gone into nursing.

  • I love my job for the most part but it is really stressful and emotionally difficult. I'd love to write for a living and not have to worry about money or anything. I also dreamed of being an event planner years ago, but having a small child made it really difficult. I'll probably stay in my current field forever because I despise change and have now made it to the point to where I'm too high up to consider moving to the bottom again.

  • I always wanted to be a vet, but was really burned out of college after undergrad.  After taking a couple years off I went back to school for environmental policy.  I really wish I'd gone to vet school instead.  But H and I were in a good place, he'd bought a partnership in his company and was making it grow, and my job paid for my master's degree.  It seemed like the logical, natural thing to do at the time.  I believe that if I'd moved to go to school (the closest vet school is several hours away and difficult to get into, so I'd probably have had to go out of state), H would not have gone with, and that would have had severe consequences on my life now.
