Kids party question...

Dd is having a party at a gymnastic place.  I'm not planning on serving lunch.  The party time is 1:15-2:45.  The first hour is the gymnastic portion and the last half hour is for cake/presents.  Do you think I need to state some how on the invite that it will just cake?  Or do you think considering the time, parents would assume there is no lunch?

Re: Kids party question...

  • I would assume because of he venue and time there wouldn't be lunch. However I personally like knowing for sure so I would just include it on the invitation. I would just say 1:15-2:15 for gymnastics and 2:15-2:45 cake will be served, or something along those lines

  • I would assume there is no lunch, but even if I wasn't sure, I would still feed my kids beforehand given the time of the party.  It's hard to know what other parents will assume, though!  If you are worried about what other parents might expect, then I would include it on the invitation like April suggested.
  • You could always put something like, "Cake and light refreshments will be served."

For G's party this year, which we had to cancel, *grumble* - I put on the invitation "Please join us for a pizza party in honor of..." I wanted people to know up front that I was just serving pizza (not the Pittsburgh buffet of rigatoni and chicken) this year.

  • I'm in line with the others, I always feed my kid before a party and I wouldn't expect lunch at that time, but you could easily put on the invitations

"Join us as we celebrate lala's birthday with gymnastics and cake!"

That's what I was thinking about putting on the invite.  Thanks!

  • assume no lunch - not at a gymnastics place & not for party that only lasts 1:30 party - don't worry about it
