According to a quick google search the average number of credit cards an American has is anywhere between 2.6 and 9.5. Most of the numbers I found were between 3 and 4.
Since you can't have a fraction of a credit card, if we say that the average is 4 cards, are you above, below or simply average?

Re: QOTD 3/13
That sounds confusing. H and I each had our own credit card. When we got married, we requested cards for the other. I only use my account and H only uses his.
I had a Capital One card years ago, but I haven't used it in about 8 years and I'm not sure the account is still active. I keep forgetting to call to inquire/close out the account.
I have a Macy's card from when we registered there. I also don't use it and keep forgetting to call to cancel.
I know it's good to keep cards open to help your credit, but I think with the 2 credit cards that we have, that should be good enough. Hopefully we never need another mortgage and I am not concerned with getting a car loan, I know we would have no problem if we get new cars.
ETA- clarity.
