Eczema Mamas...a ? for you

Do you have any home remedies/ tips to get rid of a stubborn eczema spot.  Dd gets eczema every winter.  We use all the standard tips and we use cerave and a steroid cream every day.  But she has this one spot on her shin that just won't budge.  Just wondering if anybody has any tips or tricks?  Coconut oil?  Somebody told me vicks vapor rub, but I don't know about that one.

Re: Eczema Mamas...a ? for you

  • The only thing that really clears up a nasty spot for us is the steroid cream.  When we saw the derm last month she did say that this harsh winter has been especially hard on our eczema kids.

  • Garrett's eczema has been under control for a while now, but he did get some patches this winter.  We used coconut oil and other OTC creams like Aveeno or even neosporin.  These seemed to prevent it from getting worse.  When it was bad, only the steroid cream worked.
  • My elbows are horrible this year.  I just mixed a little bit of coconut oil and my steroid cream together, which seemed to help a bit.  The other area I get it is is my eyelid, so I only use the steroid there, and only sparingly.

I'm worried because Cecily is showing signs on her forehead...I'm hoping it is just an extension of cradle cap!
  • BTW - the steroid is prescription...the OTC ones never worked for me.
  • Thanks ladies.  Maybe I will up the steriod cream use ( i think we can use it 2-3 times a day) and try some coconut oil.
