Easter Menues

It's been so slow in here lately.  Let's get the board moving with some Easter menus.  My parents are coming down, but I'm still undecided on what to make so tentative menu is below, but I'm open to being swayed by your delicious dishes.  I'm thinking:

Ham
Roasted Parmesean Potatoes
Rosemary Herb Bread
A Vegetable (Either brown sugar pecan green beans or  roasted carrots of some sort)
Salad or an apple slaw recipe I've been wanting to try

For Dessert:
Cheesecake sampler (from DD's dance fundraiser)
And this Vanilla slice recipe I've been wanting to try:

Re: Easter Menues

  • Not sure, I'm not cooking!!!!
    \:D/

we stick with traditional, and it will just be me and Brian and my parents...so I'm sure the usual variety of ham and turkey (my mom and I don't eat ham), mashed potatoes, rolls, veggie, etc....

  • A screenshot of my menu. There will be 9 adults and 4 toddlers. My sister is gluten free and her daughter is dairy, egg, and nut free. So I wanted to create a menu with enough for each of them to be able to eat without feeling limited or like they are missing out on good stuff.
Thanks to our wonderful RE our family is complete!

  • We always have ham and typically with cheesy potatoes, crescent rolls, and some kind of veggie like green bean casserole.  Sometimes a jello mold.

My SIL and B are having it this year and with a larger crowd than usual.  We will travel to attend so I am not sure what I am going to take.  I'm thinking of making a key lime cheeseball from TS and maybe some cookies or an appetizer.

For breakfast we always have hard boiled eggs and Polish babka/paska bread.  This year I am going to try to make the bread for the first time instead of buying it.  Anyone have a good recipe????

Also, we try to find a lamb shaped like butter for breakfast and dinner.  Anyone else do this?

    We go to my parents.

My mom usually does ham, standing rib roast, cheesy potatoes from a local deli, paska (for my husband), veggies. My mom also makes homemade nutbread for Easter

I will take desert. I am definitely making Paula Deen's Not Yo' Mama's banana pudding but the second desert is in the air. I am either going to do bourbon butter bundt cake, triple berry pie, or pineapple upside down cake. I am also making a batch of pickled eggs and beets this weekend.

I also really want to try this berry tart with lemon curd but I may save it for Mother's Day when berries will be better.

  • I'm struggling tremendously with an easter menu. I still don't have anything planned, and I'm hosting. I want to do some lighter side dishes, since when I have Christmas and Thanksgiving I tend to do heavier ones, I also want to make a dessert. I'm thinking lemon cake for dessert, but that's all I have so far.

  • We are ones that completely buck tradition on Easter. Neither of us are ham fans and unless we traveled to someone's house - it used to be just us. So we do what we're in the mood for (last year we had a cook out and it was a lot of fun!).

This year DD's birthday is the same weekend as Easter. Since we're going to visit some family on her actual birthday, I'm giving her Easter to choose the dinner. As of now I think we're having her favorite casserole ;)
  • Gwen, that's really fun that she's picking Easter dinner!

We're visiting my parents in Florida.  So I think my mom is going to make a ham and mac and cheese - nothing fancy.  I'm just excited to spend Easter on the beach.   The forecast is sunny and 80's!
  • It's just the 4 of us this year, so I'm not sure what we'll be cooking. Either something traditional like ham/potatoes/vegetable or something like scallops or lobster pasta.  Either way, I'm looking forward to a quiet holiday of not hosting and waiting hand and foot on my in-laws!  =)

    Amber - have fun!
