Splash Lagoon - is it really *that* expensive?!

We were looking to get away for a long weekend, within in the next few weeks, so I checked out Splash Lagoon. For a 2 night stay it was $800 to stay in the attached hotel. Um. What?

Is that place really that expensive? I was shocked.

Re: Splash Lagoon - is it really *that* expensive?!

  • Wow. We just paid admission for a day and stayed somewhere else. If you were looking at a holiday weekend, I could see it being expensive. See about buying tickets and staying at a nearby hotel.

  • We went in Sept and were able to use points for the hotel. Also just did the evening pass that let you in at 4 I think until closing. And the rooms aren't anything special. Groupon does have some specials for other water parks. A little further drive though. :(
  • I found their hotels to be expensive.  You're paying for the convenience of being able to walk down to the water park whenever you want.  We went last summer, but we stayed at a hotel closer to Presque Isle (which was our main attraction) and just drove there for the day when the weather wasn't prime.  It was a nice mini-vacation.

  • I was seriously shocked.

I did see some nearby hotels listed too - but they still were pretty pricey, imo, around $600. It wasn't a holiday weekend that I was looking at but it was the weekend before Easter so maybe they're upcharging for spring break or something. I didn't dig that deep though, maybe they include admission to SL too - but that still seems pretty pricey!

  • Did you sign up for emails? They usually send emails about discounts and packages. I do think they are kind of pricey but $800 sounds high. We haven't stayed at a hotel there though just looked. We ended up driving there and back in 1 day rather than spend the night.

  • Wow that's crazy.  We were there 3 weeks ago (first weekend of March) and we got an overnight package deal for $209!  We went Sun-Mon, and it included 4 passes to the water park for Sun AND Mon, and the overnight was at the attached Holiday Inn Express which had complimentary breakfast.  We even upgraded for 4 meal passes at the grill and a $15 arcade card-for $29.  So it was a GREAT deal for us!  I guess we got there just in time before prices shot up for spring breakers!
