Dogs love new haircut even if it doesn't look great :)
I self groom my dogs and they are both very furry...with fur that grows out forever (one is a knock-off Labradoodle and the other is a crazy mix of old English Sheepdog, MINIATURE! poodle and may other small breeds). I shaved them a little closer than intended today but they both LOVE their new do's even if i think they look a little choppy and weird...the 3 year old played harder than I've seen him play since he was a puppy! Any body else groom their dogs or have dogs that get excited about their new hair? I wish I was better at it but it definitely saves money and my mutts don't need to look like a breed standard...haha

It must be the weather
. My DH and I just groomed our dog a couple weekends ago. It does look better when a groomer does it, because they will cut her hair shorter than we are comfortable doing. But, when it saves me $50 every few months, so worth it!
She is a terrier mix, about 22 lbs. She has medium length hair, but it gets really coarse when it is on the longer side. She actually doesn't like to be groomed and is a little scared of it. But she is a good trooper about it. She just droops her ears and looks sad while we trim her, but puts up with it.
When we are done with her grooming, she does get extra excited because she knows we are now going to play ball with her...which is her favorite activity. But she doesn't get any more excited than any other time she knows she is about to play ball.
