Hi has anyone had their wisdom tooth removed? I have to get mine taken out it's already out but cracked and has a cavity growing. The oral surgeon told it would take him 15 mins to do and would put me to sleep or if I want he can just numb the area but he said going to sleep is much better. I have been so nervous I feel like its making me sick. Can anyone tell me of their experience? I am I just worrying way too much?
Re: wisdom tooth extraction?
Pain meds were my friend. Soft foods. Ice packs. Gargling warm salt water...
My husband had his removed about 10 years ago. Like me, he went under for his extraction. I was there for his procedure. It didn't take long at all. Longest part was waiting for him to wake up afterward, and for him, that wasn't that bad either
Honestly, unless you have a problem with anesthesia, I wouldn't choose the localized numbing. I've had that wear off during more than one procedure (oral and ... elsewhere) and feeling the procedure without meds, or having to stop mid-procedure for more numbing meds... Not fun. I'd rather be asleep for the procedure, and just deal with the recovery afterward.
