Re: QOTD 4/14

  • I think over 55 is probably too old to be having a baby.  It's rare to be healthy enough in your 60's to run around after a young child.  Parents should be able to have fun with their kids and that takes physical effort.  I just don't see how possible that is if you were to have a baby at 65 like the lady in that article.  That's just crazy to me.

  • I don't think you can define an age that's too old. I think it depends on the individual. Some people are active and healthy into their 50's and 60's, and others are not. I guess it's up to that individual and their doctor to make the decision if they are healthy enough at more advanced ages to have children.

  • I think it's up to the person and their doctor. I doubt this woman would have been able to find a doctor in many places that would do this with one, nevermind 4 embryos. I just hope everything ends up okay for her and her babies. I mean, she still has a young girl at home to take care of! What if something horrible happens?

  • I wouldn't probably actively TRY to have kids past 45.  As for other people...I guess it's up to them?  Doesn't mean I think it's wise or advisable, but I don't think it should be illegal or anything.  Babies are a blessing.

  • There isn't a blanket answer for this. Each persons situation is different.
  • I don't really know the answer to that. Now what that woman is doing? I feel like it's irresponsible. She still has a young child to take care of and if there's a complication in the birth and she's unable to take care of them, there are 5 children who need to be taken care of.

  • I think around 45, but I agree that it depends on the situation.  If the person is healthy, I suppose it should be alright.  I know some of you said an older person could pass away, but that could happen to anyone, age doesn't really matter.
