@mrshall1027 my hospital had ice packs that you laid on the pad. I used those for 2 days and by day 3 I didn't need them anymore. My hospital also gave us dermablast which is a pain relieving spray. They sent me home with 2 bottles. It was a cooling spray and pain relief spray. I would not make my own home remedy only because if you have an open incision, I wouldn't want to put anything on it without the doctors saying okay.

  • I made them but ended up with an unplanned c-section. I'm glad I bought generic ingredients so it's not a big waste of money when I finally remember to throw them away. Haha.

Anyone have tips for the first solo overnight? DH goes back to work tonight and I'm exclusively pumping so Im hoping at the worst, I'll just be horribly engorged in the morning from tending to baby instead of pumping.
  • @simsk3887 Can you pump after you feed? I bottle feed at night also but I will pump after I put her down for 10 minutes just to empty a little.

  • @Sewilson33 - that's typically what I do, it's just that he takes about 15 minutes to eat but an hour after to go back down. He's not fussy but definitely wants to be held. He was up from 3-4:20 and then I pumped and with cleanup and everything, wasn't back to bed until 5 and he was up at 7. It's not a bad schedule at all for a 3 week old and I feel much less overwhelmed since he actually kept his usual schedule. I was prepared for a whole night disaster since I was flying solo but my little man did amazingly well.
  • When did you ladies buy nursing bra's? I"m thinking about just buying some nursing cami's for right after birth, and then go buy new real bra's a few weeks after birth when I start getting out of the house.

  • @mseale I bought 2 nursing bras before the baby came. One I wore prior to birth but the other I kept the tags on until I got home. Once I decided which one I liked more, I then bought another one. My boobs gree tremendously when my milk came in but they went down a tiny bit since then.
If I had time I would go to a maternity store and try on better bras but it's really hard finding time to go out shopping right now. Maybe run into a store now and try some bras on now. That way you can just order them online after the baby comes.

  • How did you know what size to buy? Did you just guess up a size or two?

  • @mseale I bought a few nursing bras from Motherhood a couple of months ago.  They were like $25 bucks and buy one get one 50% off.  I only got them because I outgrew my regular bras and needed something to get me to end of pregnancy.  I bought two underwire ones and two soft cup ones.  I think the soft cup ones will stretch enough to use after birth, but I'm planning on having to get some new underwire ones.

  • Nursing bras are the devil. I didn't grow at all and could have bought before birth but waited until a few weeks after. I went and got measured at a specialty store. In the meantime I just wore nursing camis since I wasn't leaving the house (middle of January and all).

  • I went to destination maternity and tried them on. The wire free bras stretch a lot to fit you. I heard underwire can caused clogged ducts which i seem to get often so i didn't buy any of those. That's just me though.
