Waking up in the middle of the night
My friend and I were just chatting and she told me she is having sleep problems. They sound just like what I consider to be my "normal" sleep pattern so it made me wonder if anyone else experiences the same thing.
Prefer to get 7-8 hours of sleep per night so go to bed around 11pm. Alarm is set for 7am. Wake up between 4-5am for no reason and most night go back to sleep soon after but sometimes have issues falling back asleep and then suffer from tiredness the next day.
Anyone else have this? Any ideas for how to sleep through the night?
Re: Waking up in the middle of the night
seriously
I wake earlier (5:30 ish) so my wake up is usually around 3-4 am. Either caused by kids coughing, crying or husband snoring. I sleep so light that I feel like I am barely sleeping. I started using a fitbit at night that was telling me I was getting 2-3 hours of REM sleep so I stopped using it. I take either take 1 tylenol pm or have been taking 3 motrin lately for various aches and that will help. But I don't take the pm unless I can get at least 7 hrs.
I went to my PCP and she said that after so many years of no sleep from pregnancy & kids (10 & counting!) that I have to reset my sleep cycle to allow me to get deeper sleep. Hence she suggested drugs. That was back in November and its a little better but not great. The snoring doesn't help!
Getting back to sleep is tough - everyone will say don't do anything but laying there stressing about it & everything else just keeps me up. So I usually get on my phone and then fall asleep again reading it.

Thanks october2004. Looks like the risk comes from long term use of sleep aids. I am all for using them short term when going through a rough patch that affects sleep.
