help needed removing grass stains

In years past I was lucky and didn't really deal with grass stains. This spring is a different story. It's like the boys decide to run onto the grass at recess and walk on their knees the entire time they're outside. I'm doing my best to put stain spray on the knees of their pants when they come in, but that's only doing so much with removing the stains. When I take the pants out of the laundry, some green streaks remain. Any ideas for getting grass out completely the first time?

Re: help needed removing grass stains

  • I use the oxy clean spray.  Spray it, rub it in and it usually it takes the stains out.
  • Zout stain remover.

If not, you could try liquid dishwasher soap (this is what my mom used on my brother's baseball uniform) although I might test that out to make sure it doesn't remove the color.

  • When in doubt, throw it in a bucket of oxyclean and let it soak for a day (or more if I forget it's there).

  • I was just saying yesterday that Shout! is so useless on any stain.  Why do I buy it?  Grass stains & pen remain no matter how much I put on, rub or leave it on.  I'm going back to oxyclean as well.

I have shout as well, and one bottle of Zout that I think I need to try again. Sounds like a need to make a trip to the store for OxyClean. Where's Billy Mays when I need him?
