eMeals

Anyone ever try this service? I feel like I make the same old same old for dinner anymore. Yes pinterest is great but I also feel like it could be system overload of recipes. I am thinking of signing up for eMeals and thought I would ask around about experiences with. Thanks! :)

I tried something like eMeals, it was a groupon. Yeah, never used it.

I used Pinterest, but was overwhelmed. I then found a blog that I had pinned a bunch of things from Gimme Some Oven and literally made a week's worth of recipes from there and they were all delish and fairly simple.

When I look at pinterest, I usually look for something specific. I actually found that blog looking for a Barbacoa recipe and it was delish. Then I stumbled on her 7 ingredient Zuppa Toscana and that was amazing too. I like that her website has recipe index broken by course/holiday/diet restriction/recipe list.

  • Thanks Kris. That is helpful. I will look that blog over too. I love finding a good blog with tried and true recipes.
  • The dinner struggle is real, I understand. We have the same discussion every night, what do you want for  dinner? And my husband's suggestions are always hot dogs, tacos, or what is going to go bad first!

  • I attempted e-meal planning, and failed at it terribly. I get Real Simple, Everyday with Rachael Ray, Saveur, and Bon Appetit each month. My version of meal planning tends to be looking through them, ripping pages out and trying those recipes.

As a result, Steve pretty much never eats the same meal again, because I just throw the recipes in a pile, never to be found again.

  • I haven't...I wpuldny want to pay for a service like that.

I do wish I could get somebody to just give me meal ideas because I get overwhelmed on other sites too!

Maybe we should start posting recipes on here? I know we were doing a what's for dinner for the week post a while ago, but maybe we could do a new recipe you are trying every week or 2? I am definitely in a rut again but I just don't feel motivated to find new stuff right now...I have no idea what to look for!

  • I think though e-meals does give you the recipes and shopping list. main and a side. You can even pick if family or just 2 people. I will keep thinking on.
  • I found the one I used, it was Relish. I think I paid $20 for 6 months, usual price is $7 a month. I wasn't overly impressed with the menu items, I don't need to pay for a panini sandwich recipe.

If I was going to pay for something new, I would go Blue Apron or Plated. New recipes, everything delivered to my door that I need. More expensive but if I have to sort through recipes, I will use pinterest for free.

  • A bunch of my friends are using Blue Apron and rave about it but I'm too cheap to spring for it.

Maybe we should start posting our meal plans again. I remember finding/making good recipes through those posts.

I love the Blue Apron, but I agree - I keep it as a once in awhile thing.

Caron - keep us posted on if you opt for the emeals! it sounds intriguing:)
  • I like the idea of posting meal plans or new recipes again.  I feel like I cook the same things over and over.  Partly because of pickiness - my family sucks at eating anything besides a meat and a side.   None of them like casseroles.   My kids won't eat spaghetti or anything with red sauce.  (What kind of kid doesn't eat spaghetti!)   I get so bored, so then I just phone it in and make something quick/easy.
