NBR: Spring Cleaning

I'm about to have a week of forced vacation while school is out between semesters.  Since I don't get paid for these vacations, travelling is out due to finances.  I think I'm going to spend the week doing "spring cleaning" tasks that don't usually get done.  Garage and garage storage closets are my priority.  I'd also like to take all of the books off all the shelves and dust them.

What other Spring Cleaning tasks can you think of?

Re: NBR: Spring Cleaning

  • Window Washing, and oiling cabinets (murphy's oil soap sort of thing). Changing Smoke alarm/carbon monoxide detector batteries, switching "seasons" in my closet/drawers, flipping mattresses...

ummmm, I'm sure I could come up with more. So much crap to do!

  • -Go through dressers and donate old clothes
    -wash blinds
-clean out kitchen and bathroom cupboards
-pull out appliances and clean behind them

  • The big ones for me are windows, closets/clothes, and the basement.

I also agree with @dmlk413 on the kitchen cabinets.

  • What about a home improvement task too? Is there something you've been wanting to make or improve? For instance, I've been putting of power washing my deck for far too long. Perhaps you could plant some flowers and mulch?
  • - Dusting light fixtures.

    - Dusting/cleaning moldings

    - Moving couches and beds and cleaning under them.

    - Cleaning the top of the fridge and under the fridge

    - cleaning the oven

  • I would go through every room and de-clutter. Window-washing definitely needs to get done. Wiping down all of our cabinets really well, as well as the walls.

  • clean the ceiling fans, oil cabinets, vacuum under all the beds, pledge the baseboards, caulk windows/doors, powerwash the deck, recaulk the tile bathrooms, vacuum the ceilings/corners for cobwebs.

  • Spring cleaning?  What is this spring cleaning that you speak of?

I do switch out summer and winter clothes at the appropriate times, but that's about it for me.  I do spring cleaning outside in the gardens, though.
  • Are y'all ready for your heads to explode?  I do not own enough clothing to justify switching summer and winter wardrobes.  I always wear long sleeves to work because of the AC and on weekends I just wear my t-shirts without a jacket.  I have nothing to store!

  • I only started switching my clothes out when I had to give up my spare bedroom closet when Tatum was born.  I used to have a whole closet to myself (plus some space in DH's closet), which was plenty of space for all my clothes, but now that I have to share with DH, I have to switch them.

Washing the walls and pantry doors always seems to get skipped. Cleaning the pantry shelves, vacuuming the vents, and washing outside of windows.

At this point I just want to replace my blinds but we need new windows, so I'm willing to put it off a little longer...
