Gluten Free

I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and my doctor's advised me to removed all gluten from my diet. Are any of you ladies gluten free and have recommendations for great websites or resources?

Of course, I've googled, etc, I'm just reaching out to see if anyone has personal experience with a site that they love.

Thanks!

Re: Gluten Free

  • I don't have any advice for the GF, but I just wanted to say good luck getting your thyroid issues sorted out!

  • I am wheat free, DH is GF, and my mother is grain free.  I've lived like this since I was 4 years old, so I don't remember a life before, but for DH and my mom, it's been life changing.

I HIGHLY suggest not running out and getting tons of GF products.  Instead just switch to naturally GF foods for a while and as you miss things down the line, substitute with GF.

    Example:
Breakfast- eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, nuts, hash browns
    Lunch- salads instead of sandwiches
    Dinner- a meat and vegetable
    Desserts- candy

Not every doctor will agree with me, but in the naturopathic world, they believe that if your body has been reactive to gluten, then it needs time away from all grains.  Apparently the body can mistake other grains for gluten when it's in a reactive state since they are closely related products.

How sensitive are you?  How careful did they say you needed to be?  We are all fine with cross contamination, but people with Celiac for instance, need to be careful about that too.
