  • I just finished "The Girl on the Train"....so, so, so good if anyone is looking for something to read!  It reminded me of "gone girl" but I liked it more than that.  Before that, I read "Little Big Lies" by Liane Moriarty and really enjoyed it, too.

I'm in between books right now, waiting for some things from the library to come in...."Nantucket Nights" by Elin Hilderbrand (I always love reading her stuff in the summer!) and Three Wishes by Liane Moriarty.

Currently: Dark Places by Gillian Flynn. I was not a huge fan of Girl Gone, I really had to push through since everyone said it got better in the middle but I am really enjoying Dark Places. And there is a movie that was release in Europe and I am not going to lie but Charlize Theron is the complete opposite of the main character.

Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in “The Satan Sacrifice" of Kinnakee, Kansas.” She survived—and famously testified that her fifteen-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, the Kill Club—a secret secret society obsessed with notorious crimes—locates Libby and pumps her for details. They hope to discover proof that may free Ben. Libby hopes to turn a profit off her tragic history: She’ll reconnect with the players from that night and report her findings to the club—for a fee. As Libby’s search takes her from shabby Missouri strip clubs to abandoned Oklahoma tourist towns, the unimaginable truth emerges, and Libby finds herself right back where she started—on the run from a killer.

  • Kris, I read Dark Places a while ago and Charlize Theron is nothing like the main character!  That is weird casting!

I recently read The Rosie Effect, the sequel to the Rosie Project which was cute.  And I finished Die Again by Tess Gerritsen a few days ago.  It was REALLY good if you like murder/mystery.

I am now reading a few of the freebies that I have on my kindle.
  • I read Girl on a train a few months ago and liked it. Excited to see them turn it into the movie.

Right now I'm reading The Husband's Secret. I tried before and stopped. I'm still struggling. 90 pages in and I'm just not interested!! I liked big little lies better. I may switch to Jodi Piccoult's.

A recent fav for me was The Martian!! I loved it! I wasn't sure what to expect but iI thought it was great. Suspenseful with a character you come to love and was more humorous than I expected. I read it so quickly! I also can't wait for the movie. Will have Matt Damon!!

I really liked Dark Places. Did you read her other book, Sharp Objects? I liked both of those better than Gone Girl (though I also liked GG).

I just checked the first book from the Kingdom Keepers series out of the library. It's YA, and I'm ready for a light, easy read.

  • I have Dark Places ready to go for the beach.

If you're into the royals, specifically William and Kate, absolutely read The Royal We. It's a fictionalization of their lives (very, very obvious who each character is supposed to be in real life) up until the end of the book. I flew through it and LOVED it. I do have an unhealthy obsession with William and Kate though.

I liked Jane Green's new book Saving Grace. It was a quick read. Currently I'm reading Seeking Grace Kelly. So far, so good.

  • I have both of those Gillian Flynn books at home (my mom passed them along to me recently), glad to hear they're good!  Although I need to read something "fluffy" next, after "The girl on the train"....I can't read too many suspenseful/tense books in a row, I need a break, haha!

  • I recently finished the Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. I just started a book about the Titanic (The Girl Who Came Home) that so far is really, really interesting. I'll have to try Dark Places, but admit that I read Sharp Objects and the end freaked me out!
  • I just finished The Storyteller by Jodi Piccoult, and next up are The Husband's Secret and The Girl on the Train.

We're going to the beach next month, so I need to get a list of fun beach reads!

I just got back from vacation and I read some magazines; one had an article about the author of Girl on Train.  It sounds like a good book.

I finished 2 books.  #1 Passage to India, hated it.  #2 Into Thin Air, loved it.  It is about the tragedy on Mt. Everest in 1996 and is being made into a movie.  I read the pictures in the middle of the book first and it had some spoilers so it may have been even better/more suspenseful if I wouldn't have done that.

I read into thin air when it came out years ago. I can't believe it's finally being made into a movie! Yay! I loved it!! It's one of the only books Ive reread. I have no idea why I loved it so much but I found it so interesting!
