Re: QOTD 5/26

  • I'm OBSESSIVE about sunscreen and wear it everyday. I'm really fair, so sunscreen is essential. H has had some pretty bad sunburns. I've been trying to get him to be more consistent with wearing sunscreen, but it's often a losing battle....le sigh.

  • Yes. I have to. I'm very fair skinned, I burn within 30 minutes if I don't. When we go to the beach, I hate putting it on after a few days, but I do.

H uses it because he's outside at work all day. He doesn't typically burn without it, but he uses it to protect himself. He turns so dark, so fast.

  • H only uses it when we are at the beach or going to be out for several hours.

I use it most days, but I'm not as diligent as I should be. I always use it if we are going out for at least 1 hour.

  • I use it if we are at the beach or I am going to be outside for a reason (BBQ, yardwork, etc)

H will wear it if we are the beach, other than that I have to yell at him to put it on. Case in point this past weekend he was outside mowing the lawn and then chopping wood and he burned his entire back, last night he was so miserable asking me to put aloe on him, and im just like i dont know why you didnt put it on the first time I told you too!

  • We do.  I don't need much but put it on anyway, DH is very fair skinned and I force him to wear it.

  • DH does if he's going to be out in the sun all day.  Otherwise no.
I don't wear it because I'm allergic to it.  I just hang out in the shade.
  • Not daily, but yes anytime we'll be out in the sun for more than a hour or so.

  • H usually doesn't. I need to because of how fair a complexion I have.

  • @goatlady12 have you tried a more natural sunblock? there might be chemicals or fragrance in the more commercial ones that irritate your skin.

I always wear sunblock in warm weather (and winter too, if the sun is out).   D is getting better at wearing it now that I got him some to keep in his truck for work.  He still thinks he can't burn if it's cloudy.

  • I wear it when I am doing something outside like picnics, yard work, etc.  I hound DH to wear it.  I finally got him to take a bottle of it to work with him on the weekends.  This was after he spent 8 hours in the sun working in a parking lot and came home with a bad burn on this neck and head...

I am crazy about it when I'm going to be in the sun.  I hate the sun and really hate getting burned.  I went to a marina near my school 2 weeks ago during lunch and sat in my car.  My arm and shoulder got a little burned.  I should be better about daily use, I am fair.

H and I have fought about this to no end.  He definitely thinks he can't get burned if it is cloudy or overcast.  Him and I have been burned on days like that, but he is still stubborn.  I have to really make a stink to get him to wear sun block if we're going to be outside.  We went to the zoo earlier in the month and we fought because he said he didn't need to put sun block on his head if he's wearing a hat.  Good thing I won that fight, he took his hat off for most of the day because it was making him hot.  He doesn't give me trouble if we're going to the pool or beach.
  • @kittenwine I've tried a ton of things but never tried making it myself or anything like that. It's a really annoying allergy to have.
