The Warlord Wants Forever (sp)
What did you think? Will you pick up the next one?
Overall, I thought it was okay. The characters are pretty over the top, especially with the premise of no normal people know about these immortals, but they can pretty much do whatever they want without immunity and there are so many types of them. I can usually just go with being thrown in the middle of a complicated world, but it seemed a bit much for a novella that sets up the series.
My favorite part was when Myst reflects on how to know someone's "the one" you run to their open arms. I thought that was a sweet sentiment.
Re: The Warlord Wants Forever (sp)
Overall, it was ok.
I really liked the explains toon into the history of the Valkyrie sisterhood.
I didn't like the romance. Myst is kind of heartless. "Blooding" Wroth and leaving him in torment for years? Harsh. Then, once they're reunited, Myst can't seem to make up her mind on him. One second she's all about appeasing him so she can escape, and the next she's falling in love? Once she admits to falling in love, she gets her feelings hurt over his treatment of her and leaves. So much emotional flip flopping. I can sort of accept "instalove" if we're talking predestination and the Fates, but the back and forth just seemed silly.
Another thing that irked me? Myst's declaration that she's been waiting for a man to show up and overpower her. I don't remember the exact wording, but the idea was that as soon as Myst found someone stronger than her, she'd fall in love. No comprendo.
I don't know how I feel about the Valkyrie family. They all sort of seem like crazy b*tches. I understand that they're warriors that were re-birthed or whatever, but does that mean they're all bloodthirsty?
I will probably keep reading the series, but it's not instalove for me.
I definitely like the Poison Princess series more.
