Re: Weekend Plans
After traveling every weekend in May (and loving it) I am now looking forward to a month of weekends spent at home!
Fri: gym, a rare trip to the mall (so I'm actually looking forward to it) and out to eat
Sat: gym and church. maybe hang out with friends in the evening
Sun: Carnegie library party in Oakland during the day and then free movie in the park "The Sandlot." I have never seen Sandlot and DH says it is a great movie.
We also signed up for Air BnB the other week to have some extra income since DH is going on 1.5 years of unemployment. We have our first guest arriving today. I'm very interested to see how it goes!
Sunday - there is a neighborhood festival, there will be laundry to do, and I plan to watch the Tonys with my knitting!
In 2 hours I get my nephews since my parents are going away and my sister and BIL are at work. I have a feeling it may be the longest 3 hours of my life with 4 boys (2 3 year olds and 2 6 month olds). Tonight I'm going to my friend's for a wine party. I know I'm going to need it!
Saturday I have a haircut (finally!), my sister and I are hitting up some yard sales, and then we have a birthday party.
Sunday we're hoping to take the kids to the summer reading event at the Carnegie and that night is the mass for graduating seniors at church, so we'll head there to support our youth group kids.
Tomorrow - big day - neighborhood garage sale starts at 7:30, my inlaws brought all their stuff over to sell. Softball at 9, soccer at 10, softball again at 2 and then.... TAYLOR SWIFT. Yes one of the crazy moms taking her daughter & friends. We bought back in December and just told Caileigh last week - it was a reward for her all As - she is really excited. I would prefer somewhere other than Heinz Field but will go with it.
Sunday - I need to get haircut, color (I swear I saw a grey hair!!), go to the mall, church & more softball at night. Hopefully it will be nice to hit the pool in between!
Happy weekend everyone!!
How time flies! Caileigh (9), Keira (6) & Eamon (3)
Reporting back on Air BnB.
Our place has been very popular. We are competitively priced so I'm sure that helps. We had a guest arrive today that is here for our 5th booking. So far everyone has been in their 20's and 30's and very polite and nice. A couple of people our parent's age just booked with us so we will have some diversity in age when they visit next month. We haven't interacted much with most people since they are here for some specific purpose and busy with work or visiting friends.
One guest we did interact with was very cool. Friday we were out at a neighborhood fundraiser and scheduled to get home around 9pm. H gets a notice on the Air BnB app that someone wants to book for that night. He was on a cross country bike trip and with the rain that came through Pittsburgh decided to get a place for the night and not bike as far as originally planned. We told him we could take his reservation but he had to check in after 9:30. We got home and tag teamed the cleaning of the room and had it ready for him. When he came in at 10 he sat with us and chatted for a bit over a beer. He told us interesting things about his bike trip and his job and his experience putting his place in Chicago on Air BnB. We talked about places we all know in Cleveland and Michigan. It was like we had a friend visiting, very fun. And then he left very early in the morning.
Our experience has been good enough that we might try it instead of a hotel next time we travel.
