Do surgeons have to do any tests to make sure they still have awesome dexterity after several years? I think that would be a good thing.
I agree that there should be mandatory recertification which I am not exactly sure that is. I know my step mom had to do it to keep her board certification but if her certification expired she could still practice medicine. I also know that she does continuing ed. Her and my dad just went to California to do a white water rafting/survival training class. How that pertains to a hospital in a city, I'm not really sure. (She's an ER dr for those that didn't know.)
In a way I am surprised that there is no mandatory retirement age since there are other careers that do including pilots, air traffic controllers, certain law enforcement and judges.
