AW: New job!

I never heard back from the second company and I accepted the 6 month contract-to-hire position today!  When I received the official offer/welcome letter I noticed that the pay rate was an extra dollar and hour more than I was expecting.  I called to confirm (I didn't want to have to pay back money after someone figured out the error) and it was NOT a mistake!  The contractor said he found room in the budget and gave me an extra $2,000 a year in salary.  I'm floored, and feel so very fortunate.  This means that I will be getting paid $3/hr more than I was at my last job.

I will also have access to a 401(k) after 30 days, which I didn't expect.  That will help us stay at 15% of our income without DH adjusting his participation.  I'm going to stay on DH's insurance until I move to full time (hopefully by the end of the year), I don't want to mess with changing insurance twice in the next 6-8 months, especially since we are TTC.

I spent a fun afternoon (no sarcasm, I enjoyed it) adding money back into our monthly budget and estimating labor and delivery costs to make sure we are prepared.  It is way more fun to think of ways to "spend" money instead of trying to cut back to one income!!!

DH agreed with the budget I laid out and we are ready to get back on our contractor's schedule to redo the master bathroom.  He probably won't be available until this fall, but that gives us more time to save up more money to give us a cushion on expenses so we can do what we want (within reason).

I've also decided that if the second company comes back with an offer I'm going to turn it down.  Working from home and paid vacation aren't worth a $6,000 pay cut.  I'm going to work my tail off and hope they hire me full time before the contract ends in December.

I'm going to need to take some money from savings to build up a basic work wardrobe (last job was jeans and casual top dress code) but after that it will be smooth sailing!

I appreciate everyone's feedback and advice with my questions lately.  The fresh perspective has been helpful.
