Dd Skin issue - molloscum?

I swear I read about molloscum on here once (had never heard about it before). Dd has some small flesh colored bumps on her upper back legs. I looked online and it looks like molloscum. Everything says it takes 6 months to years to go away (?!?) Since there doesn't seem to be much you can do I've just been watching it and planned to bring it up at her well visit next month.

But in the last week or so I feel like a few spots have gotten worse (bigger/red) and now they are it itchy. Last night they looked bad and se was scratching a ton. Put cortisone on and look better today.

Not sure if I should take her in to pedi or wait (her well visit is in 3 weeks). I don't really feel like there is much they can do anyways. So is there someon on here whose kid had it? How long did it last? Did you do anything/see pedi?

Re: Dd Skin issue - molloscum?

  • Older DD had it..... I had never really heard of before. IT IS A PAIN. Maybe go to your ped and get it confirmed. DD had one (it is a wart) on her ankle in like November (this was years ago). At well visit in December ped confirmed and said just let it go.Most do say let it go and run its course. Well eventually she had them further up her legs. Kids with eczema can be prone to it. They itch them and they spread.  Summer came and the few bumps on her upper legs spread like wildfire. She had probably 20 or maybe more. I am thinking with wearing sun dresses all the time and sweating that made worse. Finally in august we went to a ped derm. Best thing we did. A friends daughter had (and I think where DD got) and once they went to derm was only way it helped get rid of. They took one look and said yep that is what it is. Gave us a script for meds. That even with good insurance cost $50 for a little tube. 4 days on 3 days off. Her poor legs were a war zone while they blisters and then eventually went away. By November they were gone. I kept covered with bike shorts and helps them not to spread. They say us adults do not get since our immune system is stronger. They just have to run course and yes can take years to go away. :( Sorry to provide so much detail and be sort of doom and gloom. The more I read about.... it is a virus in the pox family. My mom swears she never hear about it when we were kids. You can get in a swimming pool, mats at gymnastics, etc. From what I read it is very common in kids now.
