Affordable and Creative Organization Techniques
There are few greater feelings than a clutter free, and organized home. Getting it to that state, however, can be stressful and cost a lot of money if you do not know what you are doing. First and foremost, you have to get rid of all unnecessary clutter. Hold a yard sale or donate items that you do not use to open up more space in your home and make organizing much easier. Here is some more advice for organizing your home without draining your savings account.
Recycled and repurposed organization tools
We are told over and over again to recycle specific products, but let’s be honest, we don’t recycle nearly as much as we should. To rid yourself of the guilt of not recycling, turn unused items into organization tools such as old soda boxes into canned goods organizers. Keep lids and other loose items organized by turning old cereal or cracker boxes into storage bins so your items are easy to find, and you free up drawer space. One last way you can put old boxes to use is by cutting them up and creating drawer organizers out of them according to A Cultivated Nest.
Creative ways to save space
Don’t be afraid to get creative when it comes to storing your stuff. Use unexpected items for storage purposes to give your home character and style while keeping your stuff organized. Use a dish rack to keep your files in your office organized, while looking like décor. Use stylish drinking glasses and ramekins as office supply holders so can leave these items on your desk without leaving your desk looking messy. Open up counter space by installing C and S hooks under the cabinets to act as a banana hanger. Lastly, save yourself tons of space by getting rid of DVD and CD cases and using a CD book or paper sleeves to keep them organized and condensed.
Organization tools worth the investment
Pantries and closets are great places to stash items that don’t have a home, but they are also places where space is wasted the most. Keep pantries and closets organized by investing in vacuum sealed bags, canisters, wall pockets and other organization tools that will make your life so much easier. Hang a shoe organizer on the inside of closets and your pantry to house smaller items like Kool-Aid or spice packets. Use stackable canisters to create more shelf space, and keep your food fresh. Use baskets to organize socks or other items that can easily get lost if they don’t have a home. Lastly, use vacuum sealed bags to store blankets and linens you don’t regularly use, but that take up a lot of space in your closets. These items might be a little pricey up front, but you will not regret purchasing them and putting them to use as they will save you from lots of hassle in the future.
