10 year anniversary destination ideas?
i'm not sure if we are going to actually be able to do anything without the kids....BUT, if we could do maybe a weekend without them.... looking for ideas of somewhere we could go. wondering if you have done anything like this that you would recommend.
Re: 10 year anniversary destination ideas?
4 nights away.
We've loved our trips to Charleston/Savannah and also Montreal/Quebec City. There was a ton of history and great food in both locations. We tend to like active vacations rather than trips lying around on the beach, and both fit the bill for that.
Chicago is not too bad a drive and a quick flight, and could be another fun option.
Or, consider even staying in town for a night or two. The Sheraton Station Square is really nice. You could totally be a tourist in our own city. My sis and I just did the Double Decker Bus Tour around Pgh. and it was really fun. You can hop on and hop off, so you can do the incline, walk around the North Shore, South Side, South Side Works, the Museums, etc. Top it off with a nice romantic dinner on Mt. Washington.
It could still be a fun trip with kids. (My 4 year old son loved the Double Decker Bus.) It would just change the destinations you hit up. We hopped off the bus and did the Water Steps and then hopped back on. You could also do the Children's Museum, the Heinz History center, see a Pirate game, or, if you pick a hotel with a pool, just hang out by the pool!
Whatever you do, have fun! Congrats on 10 years.
Niagara Falls is a fun idea like pp mentioned. We are not that far and have gone a few times.
Another idea would be Finger lakes wineries in NY if you guys have interest in that. We live around the area and its a doable drive for the weekend. There are tons of wineries on the lake (there are actually a few different lakes with wineries). There's also great places for hiking and obviously lake activities.
We're planning Mexico - 4 days/5 nights without kids. However, we live in Texas now, so we're a lot closer than you all are!
I love the suggestions the others gave you. Specifically Niagara Falls (we never took a honeymoon but went on our 1st anniversary, and we went back several times after that with and w/o kids) and NYC - I just love that City!
My three sons!
