Trump? no.

So along with the John McCain comments and now what he did to Lindsey Graham...I think we all need to move waaay past Donald Trump as a serious GOP contender. He's a flash in the pan.

For those of you who don't know what he did to Lindsey Graham...Graham is friends with McCain and Graham defended McCain (along with almost ever other GOP candidates). In a retort, Trump publically read aloud Graham's personal cell phone number.

Not classy. Not presidential.

Re: Trump? no.

  • I've never liked Trump from the beginning - I thought he was joking at first for running as president, but now he has released his own financials.  He has the most money out of all the GOP candidates. Does that mean he will get a better chance now.  Debates should be comical.  I just find him rude and arrogant.

  • Regarding debates...I think having Trump there will show how much better the other candidates are. Every body looks great next to a tool chest.
  • Gahhh he's driving me crazy!!!  I'm so upset with all my conservative friends who "think he brings up good points".  Don't legitimize this clown!

Despite some of the comments he made, I like Trump because I truly feel he will turn things around. He is a smart, hard-working man and not a politician which is refreshing. The other candidates talk in circles and don't say much. The media is liberal so they're going to focus on knocking Trump down regardless of what comes out of his mouth.

Trump is a hardened business man that has built a fortune by making the right decisions which usually are tough to make. Democrats and Republican politicians are used to making the wrong decisions as is obvious as we have 12-30 million illegals in the country. In a nut shell, stupid people do not get to be billionaires. Unfortunately stupid people are the ones that have been elected to run our country into the ground. Trump is performing a much needed service for our country. House cleaning the dirt so the country sparkles again.

Dr. Carson also fits the (bolded), but he has class and demonstrates diplomacy AS WELL AS restraint. Also, as he dealt with true life and death situations with people and their families/kids, I think he has an extra level of care and consideration, which no matter how much money a person has, can never be bought. Part of being the president is also having humbleness and a sense for when to hold one's tongue versus knowing when to be bold and speak out. Trump lacks these qualities. Trump has elevated himself - True via fame and fortune. Carson's elevation has been due to his dedication and service to OTHER people outside of himself and his own "dynasty."

My state has one of those sucessful businessmen turned politician govenors and he is having a heck of a time. We currently don't have a budget and the government is partially shut down. A lot of funding was cut for special needs kids, etc.- also known as the most vulnerable. So the governor is in a pissing match with the legislature and people are suffering. Trump will make an awful president because he is used to always getting his way and won't compromise. I cringe thinking of him dealing with the Middle East.

Great points!! I would vote for Ben Carson over Trump. They are my top two.
  • I don't think either will win because they are not politicians.  I know I"m a downer but really - politics is all about the games and how you play it.

Trump may have a chance because he's loaded but yeah I know what you mean.

He's nobody for the middle class.

Case in point: the EnCap site in North Arlington, Lyndhurst and Rutherford, NJ.

EnCap is a landfill.(translate: who knows what kind of toxic waste may also be buried in it??)

Trump wanted to take that entire tract of land and build a world class golf course and take the rest of the property and build high end high rises, midrises and a shopping area.

Those 3 towns are middle class and Rutherford is becoming kind of upscale but by and large it is still a middle class town.

The high rises would have ruined the view of NYC and Trump took off and booked it when they told him he'd have to remediate the entire tract of land before he was able to build anything.

All of this happened about 8 or 9 years ago.

He's built a golf course down in Colts Neck -- trendy high income area but the majority of people who come there to rent the place out for a wedding or a prom...right; the middle class. We didn't need another golf course. (and I wonder if that one's not on top of some kind of former dump or landfill.

Say no to Donald. Who needs him?.

He did all that because he is a successful business man. Imo as POTUS he would make much needed positive changes for the country. Donald Trump is the only candidate that will not be controlled by the Washington D.C. Cartel. He is also the only candidate that can bring back jobs, close the borders to all the illegals, protect the country against ISIS and make our military strong.

Trump will stand up to world leaders the bargaining table.

my mom is now getting into donald trump - we talked about him last night.  I still think he needs to think before he opens his mouth.  We both agreed that there is a possibility he can get republican nomination because a lot of people are angry and he is that voice.  IDK.  I'm not to crazy about him or anyone at the moment.

  • I guess we'll have to wait and see how the debates go/what people bring to the table.

Yes. and this first debate only takes the top 10 candidates. So we're looking at Bush and Trump for sure. Probably Huckabee, Carson, Paul, Walker too. Not sure about the others.
  • when is it and what chanel is it on?

  • oh bummer we don't have cable - maybe we will stop by MIL's to watch it.  I feel like it will be a comedy show with Trump there.  Talking with DH last night and he thinks Trump is just running to divide up the votes and get Hilary in.  Apparently Trump has mentioned being in favor of Hilary in the past.

That's an interesting theory. I think that too.

I was too young to remember what exactly was going on when Perot was running back in the day, but he says that Trump is pretty much today's Perot.  AND he thinks that Trump will back down eventually and maybe run as an Independent.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • I completely agree that Trump is today's Perot.  I'm scared shitless that he will run as an independent.  He'll never win, but he'll divide the conservative vote.
  • He is also the only candidate that can bring back jobs, close the borders to all the illegals, protect the country against ISIS and make our military strong.

We have illegals here from every country you can think of -- it isn't just Central and South America.

They are getting in here somehow; that we know -- whether they are being brought here by some entity who promises them freedom for only X amount of dollars...which they wind up working off by being put to labor in a sweatshop, prostitution or some other type of enslavery.

Maybe they fall through the cracks; visa runs out and they get under the radar somehow.

How does he plan on finding every single illegal and shipping them back to whence they came?

Yes, it will be interesting to see how this all unravels.  I just don't understand republicans sometimes.  Last election many didn't vote because Romney was not far enough right for them. Apparently they don't mind that Obama got re-elected.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • I think they are also having a second debate earlier that day (4PM East?) for the candidates who are NOT in the top 10.

Oh!  Like the governor of my state, Bobby Jindal.  You go, Bobby!  Race those other GOP candidates to absolute last place.

Let me tell you how bad he is.  Despite being extremely conservative in one of the reddest states in the country, he has one of the lowest governor approval ratings.

Sorry to even mention such a non-contender, but my snark could no longer be contained, lol.

    He is NO Perot.

Everybody was interested in Perot...but not a third party candidate, which he was.

He pretty much took the nation by storm. But nobody wanted a third party candidate.

Lol I'd hardly say "everyone" was interested in Perot.  A lot of people found him extreme. He did have an amazing grassroots organization though.
  • I watched the debate again. I changed my mind. I think Trump came out strong. I think the media influenced my first opinion of him. He's definitely a blow hard but maybe that's what we need this time around.

They made him prove his record and he had a hard defending the fact that his conservative views are a very recent revelation.  He also had a difficult time proving that he isn't a sexist pig.  I don't want a sexist candidate and any democrat would make mince meat out of him in a general election.
