I think the first GOP debate is August 6th. I do not know about the DNC debates.

Usually the final nominees are figured out at the conventions which are usually in the summer before the electiion. So a year from now. The primaries start in maybe January. I know my state is in March.
  • Well each debate will be different as far as who is invited and who is not.  It depends who is sponsoring the debate.

The first debate is the Fox News one on August 6th.  They will only be taking the top 10 and the final top 10 will be based on polls out by August 4th.

I live in NH and am involved in local politics.  People around here were pretty peeved when the RNC only gave us one debate.  So the local new station has been desperately trying to arrange a debate that will not be sponsored by the RNC.  So far every registered Republican candidate is on board.  I believe they are looking to schedule it for the end of August.  It will air nationally via ABC, I believe.

They are also having a debate earlier in the day for the GOP candidates who did not make the top 10.  But I'm not sure if it is televised.

The only reason I am even aware of it at all is my governor, Bobby Jindal, will be landing squarely in the reject pile.  As such, there has been a bit of news locally about "that" debate.

  • Yes, it is being televised.  5 pm for the bottom pile and 9 pm for the top pile
