We bought our house about 6 months ago. We've since noticed that the back door frame is completely falling apart from wood rot. You can basically stick your hand through a 4 inch hole from the the outside all the way to the dry wall on the inside. The dry wall is the only barrier to the outside in certain parts because it's so rotted. We were have major ventilation and bug problems as a result of this, so as a temporary fix, we filled all the holes with wood filler.
The front door structure is fine, but it's a boring super cheap door painted black (which doesn't match my style). Plus there are no windows in the front of the house, so the only way we can see outside is through the peep hole. Also, there is only one deadbolt- the knob doesn't lock so I don't feel super secure.
I want to replace the entire back door frame & door and the front door. Does anyone have an idea what this kind of project would cost? Have you done something similar?
Re: Exterior Doors
We got a basic aluminum Jen weld door with an oval window. That was between $200-300. Then the handle and lock were also from Home Depot, I think it was around $150. HTH
Also, hi! I don't usually post here, but I lurk from time to time. Thanks!
