Runners or just working out: how are you doing?
It's been SO dead in here!!
How is everyone doing with working out and/or running this summer?
Runners-any races you did or have coming up? Any AWs or whines?
I've had some injury stuff to work through and trying to find the right shoes/inserts and getting used to them but I've been trucking along!
A couple weeks ago I ran an all woman 5K which was a lot of fun. My time was 27:23 although according to Garmin it was 27:08 using when I actually crossed the starting line. I had wanted to get it under 27 but still happy with it.
I have my first half coming up in 3 weeks!! I ran 10.5 miles last week and hope to hit 12 next. The other 2 weeks will be for recovery. As long as I can keep injury free I'm feeling really good about the half!
Re: Runners or just working out: how are you doing?
Congrats on your upcoming half! I hope it goes well and you enjoy it.
I hope to get back to running soon. My excuse is that I don't like the heat and the heat doesn't like me. Oh, and a four month old keeping me from getting lots of solid sleep.
Good luck on your half! You will do great! It's such an awesome feeling to know that you've accomplished something like that.
I have been running sporadically this summer. I really need to get back into regularly, not just because I have do drop several lbs. but because it always gets me in such a good place mentally. Right now I'm only doing 5ks, but hoping to do the Pittsburgh Half in the Spring. Overall, I've been keeping pretty active this summer, but once the weather cools down, I tend to turn into a sloth.
Thought I would update since my half was yesterday! First the weather was beyond perfection! It was in the 80s all week and yesterday it broke. Started in the 50s with only a high in low 60s. No rain or strong wind.
It was hard and amazing! Lows and highs ups and downs! The course was beautiful and the crowd support was fantastic! There were some killer hills and I really struggled towards the end. OMG a bad hill at 11.5 miles!! But I finished! My time was 2:18:56. I wanted to finish under 2:30 and my super ideal goal time was 2:15. I was happy to be so close to that goal. Considering I lost a lot of time on that last hill I'm very happy with my time. Woohoo what an experience! So proud that I did it.
That's a great time! Way to go!
