Not MM, GTKY: Flu shots

Re: Not MM, GTKY: Flu shots

  • Great find @Xstatic3333.

as another note, I'm generally one of the people who feels sick for 24-48 hours after getting the vaccine (achey, dizzy, feverish). I got this year's flu shot on wednesday, drank lots of water and went for a little walk after, I've felt fine and had only minimal soreness at the injection site.

  • My employer offers free flu shots. I haven't had the flu in 15 years. I know part of that is luck because I know that the flu shot doesn't cover every strand of the flu. Luckily I haven't had a reaction to it. I do know that some of my co-workers have had reactions to the shot, so they pass on it. If I had a bad reaction to it, I probably would skip it too. Anything I can do that will help to reduce my chances of getting sick and feeling miserable (and having to use vacation time for time missed) is good in my book.
  • We just got an email yesterday here at work that they will reimburse us and any member of our immediate household for flu shots.  I've never had one before, but probably will do it now, especially since I now interact with a large number of people every day.  Also H always gets one as he is immunocompromised, so it's nice we can both get ours covered.

Looks like Costco offers them for $14.99 as well.

The last place I worked was like that.  Our local office had too few people to actually have a flu shot person come out and administer the shots, but the company would fully reimburse flu shot costs.  Though just for the employee, not for their immediate family.  That is a nice perk!

Winn Dixie sometimes has good deals on flu shots also.  I've seen them offer a free flu shot when a person spends $50 on groceries.  When I was at my last company and got reimbursed, I got my flu shot at WD.  Their special that week was a bundle of free products if you got a flu shot.  So my work reimbursed me for the cost of the flu shot and then I got about $15 in free stuff on top of that.  Win-win.
