A mini rant...

I appreciate that not everybody shares my views, religious, political or otherwise, but I really dislike pulling up my FB and seeing "friends" with pics online of themselves or their family watching the GOP debate and laughing and making a point to post on FB about what they are doing.

First, you have little else to do than to spend time watching people debate over things you don't like or agree with anyway??? No life?

Second, you know you have friends and family on FB who don't share your views and don't you think it's insulting to them to get to a FB newsfeed and see you insulting their party's candidates and therefore their ideals and beliefs in the process?

I would never watch a DNC debate. If I did, I would have the common decency to not post my laughing face on FB for DNC supporters to see.

There's just not a good reason to do something like this. All it does is create more disunity, hurt, and distrust. Mean and Tacky.

Re: A mini rant...

  • I'm with you.  It's rude and tacky.

Obviously I'm very interested in politics, but I never post anything political on social media because I think it's bad for my business to make my political views known.  Also, I think social media is probably the worst way to have a political discussion.  It gets ridiculous in 5 second.
  • I try and keep my political views out of FB because I don't want to offend someone and have them think differently of me.  I did have a few friends on FB post last night comically how they were watching the line up of clowns.

I will watch the DNC debate as well though.

  • @MommyLiberty5013, amen to most of your post, though I do disagree with one aspect.  Even if a person falls heavily to one side or the other of the political spectrum, I can understand why someone would follow candidates and watch debates on both sides.  Certainly not as a joke to poke at and ridicule...but as a way to be aware of where and what different candidates are about.

My dad said something to me years ago and that really made an impression.  One of my dad's all time least favorite person was Newt Gingrich.  Yet, one day, I saw him reading a book Newt wrote and was shocked!  I asked him, "Dad!  You dislike Newt so much, why are you reading his book?!?"  His response was, "How do I know I don't like him if I don't know what he says?"

Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing if someone doesn't want to watch any debates or only wants to watch certain debates.  I'm just saying I can understand why some people want to be exposed to candidates/debates...even for the side they feel strongly against.

So true!  I've read Obama's "Dreams from My Father" and I can't stand him!  When he was running in 2008 all my liberal friends kept quoting the book like it was Mein Kampf, so I had to read it.
  • yeah - I want to know what all the politicians are like when running for the presidential race.  I still consider myself an Independent.  I know I won't vote for Hilary, I'm scared of Bernies policies (how will he pay for all of these social programs), I'm also scared that any republican will get rid of obamacare.  We are counting on birthing baby #2 in the next year or two and I want an affordable experience on that.  Decisions, Decisions…...

  • Nothing is free.  Someone always pays.  That's all I'll say about Bernie
  • obviously - afraid he will rack up our debt even higher.
