need (audio) book recs please!

On Thursday we're getting in the car for the long drive from NYC to South Bend, IN, about 12 hours each way.
I'm looking for audio books that me, DH, and FIL will all enjoy. If not audio, I'd still love any suggestions for books that everybody might love.  DH isn't a reader but loved Ready Player One on our last drive, FIL is a big James Patterson fan but has read all of his books already
TIA.

    IT

    My favorite Cake Wreck ever.

  • I was considering 11/22/63 and The Martian!   I loved 11/22/63 and would be more than glad to do a re-"read."  The Martian is another idea, I didn't even think of that one.
I loved IT but I really don't think that it would be up either of their alleys.

  • I second The Martian. The narrator was great and perfect for the story. Another couple that I always recommend to those who loved Ready Player One are Lexicon by Max Barry (this has a mystery/thriller aspect too, so might be good for your your FIL), Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloane and 14 by Peter Clines.

  • I like all of the ideas already given (the one's I've read anyway), and I would add The Three by Sarah Lotz.  Added bonus: you're killing two birds with one stone, because it's the October discussion book!  I'm about half through the audio book now, and it's really good.
