Privacy fence do & donts
Question...my backyard is already fenced in by the neighbors. I have neighbors on both sides & behind me. Everyone in our neighborhood uses the standard chain linked fence but I would love a privacy fence. I feel like this would cause a problem but what do yall think? No bashing! This is just an honest question.

Check your city rules. In my city, double fences are not allowed, meaning that if you wanted to put a privacy fence up you would have to rip out the existing chain link fence, and if they require that, that will add to your cost of putting in a fence.
Depending on the reason for wanting a privacy fence (to keep dogs quiet vs. just not wanting everyone to see what you are doing), if it's that later, consider planting some tall grasses. There are some really nice ornamental grasses that can grow to 5-6 feet tall, very quickly each year. Then in the winter, you cut them down & next spring they grow back even thicker. It would create a natural barrier between you and your neighbors.
