What kind of pets do you have?

I grew up with a gazillion pets, every type. We always had at least 1 dog and 1 cat. But we also grew up with hamsters, guinea pigs, bunnies, ducks, chickens, lizards, turtles, tortoises, snakes, and birds. My husband on the other hand, my husband never had more than one pet (usually a dog) at a time. Except once when he had a gecko.

Right now we have a German Shepherd, and two cats. I am pretty happy, they are the right pets for where we are in life right now.

So, just kind of as a conversational/sharing board, what kind of pets did you grow up with, and what kind of pets do you have now? Or are hoping to get in the near future.

Re: What kind of pets do you have?

  • I had a bunny for a few years growing up.  Then we got a dog when I was in high school.  This was after my sister literally begging non-stop from the ages of 6-12, lol.

I currently have one dog and one cat.  Our cat is about 11 years old (Nip).  We've had her from a 4-month kitten.  She is a Manx breed and was born without a tail (about half of Manxes either have no tail or just a stub).

We also have a 4-year-old, 22 lb. dog (Izzy).  We got her at 18 months.  We have decided her breed is Terrier Extraordinaire, because we got her from the pound and the only thing you can really tell about her is she is some type of terrier.  I attached a pic of her, but did not have one handy of our cat on this computer.  She has her classic "one ear up and one ear down" look in this pic.

I would love to get a pair of pygmy goats someday, but I currently live in an urban environment and just don't have a nice 1+ acre space for them to run around in.
