Preschool artwork & papers

All of DS's artwork and papers are slowly taking over my home.  I was saving everything, but he brings home 3-5 papers and/or crafts every day. How do you guys with kiddos handle this?  I think I may just save a few select items and toss the rest when he isn't home. It would break his heart to see his art in the trash. :(

  • I haven't handled it yet. :(  Some have been moved to the basement, but goodness I have a ton.

    116 books in 2016

    my read shelf:
Lauren (SnShne322)'s book recommendations, liked quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (read shelf)

  • Scan them, or take pictures of them, and create a Shutterfly book.

  • I kept some - the neatest or most creative ones - and I threw the rest away when they weren't looking. I'm having a harder time with Kindergarten & 1st grade school work. Every day I empty their backpacks, and everything ends up in this big desk drawer but I never get around to going through it to keep the good artwork/projects. It's madness. It's now run over into a second desk drawer.

  • I keep the most creative ones or the ones that are holiday based that we can hang up in her room to decorate at the holiday season.

The rest go in the garbage.

  • I started culling most of it and saving the pieces that feel most representative of their personalities and development at each stage with the intention of putting them in binders. It's so hard to let go of any of it, but like you said, it starts taking over the house. If I'd let it go too much, their artwork would have needed its own bedroom.

  • I'm glad to see I am not the only one!

  • We got this art portfolio from Lakeshore Learning.

We still have to cull like crazy and only keep the best stuff, but at least it's all in one place.
