Clueless about Christmas gifts- need ideas!

I already feel behind and Christmas season hasn't "officially" even started!  This time last year I had a list of ideas for my kids and had already bought the main items. This year I have ZERO ideas and maybe one or two little things I picked up during the year!  My 10 yr old is no help - we just passed her birthday and she had no idea what she wanted for that so she really has no idea for Christmas. Now my 6 yr old wants everything in the American Girl catalog so the problem there is finding something Santa will bring her.  And she got a doll last year so that isn't happening again!

So send me your ideas for 4 yr old boy, 6 yr old girl & 10 yr old girl!

Any recommendations welcome!

For the 6 year old, look at TRU, target and Walmart for cheaper AG alternatives. Target usually has the our generation stuff 50% off around thanksgiving. I got some great deals last year. AG also has some good sales around thanksgiving and cyber Monday. I got DVDs and books for great prices last year. Dd also wants everything AG this year as well. I think I'm doing 1 big item from there (can't find a cheaper alternative for gymnastic set!) and supplementing with cheaper stuff. I found a doll outfit at justice on clearance and then 50% off that. she wants grace's pastry cart that is like $150! But I found a snack cart from Walmart for a fraction of the price that I plan to jazz up a little.

Does your 10 year old have iPod? Tablet? Dd is getting kindle fire this year. I gave her my old iPod last year and she loves it. Does she like craft/making stuff? There are lots of jewelry craft sets out that look like fun. Dd has also started learning to handsew so I'm going to get her some doll outfit patterns and some fabric. Jewelry or fun clothes if she's into that kind of stuff?

What about experience gifts? We are trying to cut back on toys some (not sure if that will work!). We are getting dd tickets to disney on ice and a musical I know she will like. Something like that or concert tickets for older daughter?

  • Thanks! I have to get on those AG sales, last year I got a great steals & deals(today show) & then a deal on zulily as well.  Look for those around thanksgiving early Dec too

I did get a kindle fire for $50 for 10 yr old but not sure if she will use it.   She has a regular kindle and doesn't really use to read vs reading books, so the fire would be more for games.  She does have old iphone to use for games and music. And I really don't want to go down the ipad electronics route yet.   Sort of crafts but really they have no time to do anything which is half my problem. They have looms and jewelry making kits but they go unused. School, then a few hours after if they don't have a practice, dinner, homework & bed!  That all being said I was thinking a small sewing machine to see if that will inspire them but I fear it will be a waste b/c who has time to teach them to sew?!

Experiences are great and we usually do a show but from us not Santa (too hard to explain that one) so still have to find those secret gifts...

    Thanks for help!
