@GilliC Americans try Norwegian Christmas Food

Re: @GilliC Americans try Norwegian Christmas Food

  • "I've been warned away from eating this." Hahahaha!

  • Wow! This made it across the Atlantic?!

My favorite was the woman who ran from the smalahove! (In spite of its appearance, it tastes really good. Much better than a lot of the others.)

I am not a fan of most of them, so I dread Christmas season at work. Last week they served lutefisk. With only one hot dish option, that should be illegal. Especially since they ran out of bacon to put on top!!!

  • My theory for how lutefisk was invented:

Back before Norway found oil, some people living out in the middle of nowhere looked into their pantry during mørketid (the dark months) and said, "Well... All we have is some dried cod and some laundry soap. Let's see what we can do!" (This decision may have been fueled by Aquavit.)
