Baby Update

I'm 37 weeks so I'm full term.  Yay!  Very uncomfortable, haha, but I think that's pretty normal.  Little Sister hasn't turned head down yet which I believe is part of the discomfort.  It has me stressing out since the longer she takes to turn head down the less likely she will.  She varies between breech (head up) and transverse (sideways).  My doctor brought up scheduling a c-section since baby is still breech.  I get that she wants to schedule it in advance to be prepared but I hate the idea.  I feel like we should just wait until I go into labor and if she is still breech then do a c-section.  Am I naive for thinking this?

I'm going to talk to my doctor at my appointment this week.  She pretty much sprung the c-section thing on me at the end of my appointment last week when I'd already been there for over an hour, it was almost 5 pm and my toddler was being a terror.  So I didn't really have questions or think much about it until I was driving home.  It's really been stressing me out since then.  I know that having a healthy baby delivered is what's the most important.  I just really really would love to not have a c-section.  Plus I'm extra annoyed because I had to see two different doctors at the practice at the two appointments before that last one and neither of them said a word about a possible c-section.  So I feel like I could have been more prepared, had my questions answered sooner, if it wasn't such a last minute thing.  I have questions for the hospital as well but I've already had my appointment with them.  I'm sure part of my stress/irritation is just pregnancy hormones.

Re: Baby Update

  • I don't blame you. Pretzel, as we like to call it after this last u/s is in breech, and I'm thinking the same thing. I don't want to have a scheduled cs. If it comes to that, fine. But I don't want to have to do it ahead of time.

  • Personally, I think way too many doctors are willing to do scheduled C-sections.  It worried us enough that the first time we met with our doctor, we made sure that everyone was on the same page about baby comes when baby comes unless there's a darn good reason to do otherwise.

  • I agree that too many doctors push for c-sections. And I thought I had found one that wasn't like that. I'm definitely going to talk to her more at this next appointment (Wednesday). i've been making a list of my questions.

  • Update: had my appointment today. I'm back to measuring ahead, my blood pressure was up, and baby is still not head down. So my doctor ordered another ultrasound. I go in tomorrow at 2:30. I know they are wanting to see exactly what position she is in and if there is a reason she isn't head down. Also doctor wants to know why I'm measuring ahead, extra fluid or something else.

As long as there isn't anything concerning in the ultrasound, they have my c-section scheduled for Jan 11th. If she turns head down then we will cancel it.

  • I hope she turns for you!

  • While I hate how expensive they are, it was worth the peace of mind. She is definitely a she (there have been doubters) AND she is head down. I thought she had turned but at my appointment yesterday my doctor "didn't think so". (Really not liking my doctor lately). We got some good pictures.

Little Josie is also measuring right on track if not a little small. Lily was small too so I'm not worried. So I'm measuring big either from extra fluid or her position. Or maybe my doctor just measures weird???

  • I heard that their measurements are way off. Is there any reason that you can't go till 40 weeks.  That is a lot of time that she could turn on her own.
  • Jen, I found out last week she turned head down. Just hoping she stays that way now. I'm definitely more comfortable now that she is head down. Well as comfortable as one can be at 38 weeks pregnant. ;)

  • It was a great gift!!  Still no sign of her arriving anytime soon.  I'm more than ready.  She's bruising my right side.  But I'm starting to think she's going to stay in there past her due date like Lily did.

  • Haha, still waiting.  Had an appointment yesterday.  Everything is still looking great.  Barely dilated, she's still up high.  Dr swept my membranes so we will see if that helps at all.  We have another appointment on Friday.  And if she isn't here by next Monday, I go in at 8pm to be induced.

  • Hoping she comes on her own without the induction.
