Weekend Reading/First Book of 2016

Did you read anything over the weekend?  And what's your first book of 2016?  Anyone have a spectacular NYE?

I didn't read a thing, been so darn busy.  My first book this year is November 9, starting tonight. 

NYE was ok, we hung out at my cousin's house with the kids, ate, drank, & watched the ball drop.  Nothing too exciting.

I've been rereading Dragonfly in Amber and listening to The Witches. 

NYE was meh. Home on the couch. Whoopidedoo.

I started 'The Romanov Sisters' and am still working on rereading TBH.

My NYE was lame, I was sick so I laid on the couch and watched netflix.

Finished The Strange and Beautiful Sorrow of Ava Lavender. It was wonderful!

I'm still trying to get through The Royal We. It's draaaaaaging.

Another sickie on the couch for NYE. My parents brought us dinner from our favorite seafood place though.

I finished a re-read(listen) of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix....great way to start the year if I do say so myself. I did nothing for New Years. I had to work both eve and day....soooo I went to bed early.

We just had dinner with my sister and her husband for NYE.  Nothing elaborate, but our little tradition.  We spent New Years' Day with my sister's MIL while our husbands went out.  

I'm reading Better Than Before, Gretchen Rubin's book about habits.  I figured it's a good way to start the new year and will hopefully reinforce my 30 day yoga challenge.

NYE was fun!  Sort of.  DH and I went out for dinner and one of the best meals we've ever had.  Super great service and we really enjoyed ourselves.

But then we didn't sleep because people in our neighborhood were shooting fireworks until 3 am.  So obnoxious.  So, mixed bag but whatever.

Finally finished The Lake House over the weekend.  Took me a long time to get into it but I did enjoy it and the last third flew by.  Just started After You by Jo Jo Moyes last night.  I've been putting off reading it due to mixed reviews but so far I love it.  I was sucked in by the third page.

We just went to my sister's house for a few hours.  Nothing exciting, but we had fun.

My first book was The Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard.  I'm on book 4 and 5 for the year already. I'm off to a good start!

Over the weekend I made a lot of progress on "Picture Perfect: the Jodi Arias story". Last night The Nightingale finally came up on my Overdrive so I switched gears. I hope it's as good as the reviews. That will be my first full book of 2016,

NYE was rather lame. DH had to work NYE day and NY day so we couldn't do anything at the house. We played some old wii games, made snacks and had wine. We were in bed when the ball dropped but at least stayed up to watch it before going to sleep.

I'm working my way through A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby for book club and A Throne of Glass. I'm hoping to finish A Long Way Down by Friday.

NYE was no fun. H and I were sick with a stomach bug the toddler brought home from daycare.

I'm reading After You by Jojo Moyes and listening to Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari.  Both were started before New Years, but they'll be books 1 and 2 for the year.

New Years was low key for us too, DD slept over at Grammie's house as planned, but DS was sick, so we stayed home with him instead of going to the party we were supposed to go to.  I went out to get take out and sit at the bar to wait for it while DH put Eli to bed, and wound up being there for almost 2 hours waiting for our Thai food.  But I did have 2 mai tais and the food was delicious and actually worth the wait, so there was that.  We watched the Kurt Cobain documentary Soaked in Bleach on Netflix and had no concept of when midnight happened.

I'm reading The Division of the Marked and it is so well-written and immersing. I love it.

I'm sort of excited to be done though because I have Modern Romance on my overdrive that I need to get to/through. Should be kind of fun.
