Stephanie, married for 8 years (but with my husband for 14 years this month)... two kids, Isabella (6 and in Kindergarten) and Hunter (3 1/2). I'm currently a stay at home mom, but help on the family farm- we live on a filbert orchard, plus we have about 60 melanistic mutant pheasants (https://www.pheasant.com/birds/melanisticmutantpheasant.aspx), 25 quail (a few different breeds), and two dogs.
My first book of the year was Orphan Train by Kristina Baker Kline. I absolutely LOVED that book and finished it in two days. I felt a lot of different emotions while reading it and immediately recommended it to multiple family members.
I'm currently reading a couple of books: November 9 by Colleen Hoover (whom I love), Happy, Happy, Happy by Phil Robertson, and I'm about to pick up either Paper Towns by John Green (I know, I'm a little late to the game), or Entwined by Heather Dixon (I've had the book on my shelf for years, but I finally pulled it out last night, because the gorgeous cover is kind of the inspiration for my recently engaged sister's upcoming wedding (enchanted, secret garden, whimsical, fairy tale, etc.))
Lately, I've really been into all of K.A. Tucker's books. I just finished her Burying Water series. I'm currently reading the November 9 book on the Crave app, which "sends readers a segment a day from their favorite romance authors. Each installment arrive automatically, and comes with instant notifications, videos, and photos from the lead character." While I'm enjoying the videos, "text messages" (within the app), and connection to the characters, I hate that I can only read one chapter a day. Do they not know that most people read more than one chapter a day? It's driving me nuts, and I'm half tempted to just read the book on my Nook, but then again, I am enjoying all of the features. We shall see if I continue with it.
I still follow most of you on Goodreads, but here's my profile: https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/4369680-stephanie
It's good to be back, and I look forward to talking books and getting recommendations from all of you again.
Cheers to the new year!
My husband and I recently moved from the suburbs to an apartment in the city, and in the process, I had to get rid of hundreds of books! I think it felt like I had to hand in my NBC card at that point, and so maybe that's why I've been shy? I still follow this board and read many of your recommendations! I'm currently reading The Bazaar of Bad Dreams by Stephen King (because I have to read and own all SK books), and A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray. Some good books I've read recently were Carry On by Rainbow Rowell (I read it in 2 days, which is not normal for me with a 500-page book, but for some reason I couldn't put it down), The Royal We by Heather Cocks, Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson, and The Shining Girls by Lauren Beukes.
Thanks for getting me to post!

In all seriousness, I liked it. Was it amazing? No. There were a few twists that I found refreshing, but it was a little formulaic. And formulaic in that if you like underdogs that turn out to have kick ass powers, you'll probably like this book.

Patty actually texted me this morning about this book. She said she can't put it down even if it is predictable.

I LOVED Troublemaker. Mostly because I adore Leah Remini. I'd totally go out drinking with her. She's a blast. However, if I didn't already hate Tom Cruise before.... I would now!
