That only took 9 months! So much relief.

I don't have to deal with that insurance issue we had back in May.  It only took 8 months for the marketplace to get all the shit done on their end to finish up our appeal for backdated coverage.  Coventry got it back last Monday.  I called to have it escalated last Friday.  Called today and it is officially back dated to May 1st for when our family coverage got dropped without any communication to us on their end.  I called our doctors today to have them resubmit our claims - total of $963 - thank god they never sent us to collections.  DH is calling coventry today to speak to a manager to have our premium waived for that month because of all the headache it caused us.  Meanwhile we are with Blue Cross right now and love it.

  • Congrats!  I'm glad you all FINALLY got this resolved.  I know it has, understandably, been a frustration for you all for awhile.
  • I'm happy you got it fixed, 9 months is completely, 100% unacceptable.

  • I'm glad that you got it fixed.  I work in healthcare and can say that this isn't super uncommon... health insurance is a disaster.
  • I think it has happened a lot lately from what I've heard.  It sucks making the government have their hand in it because they are the least efficient at anything.  Something that should take 1 month max - took them basically 9 months to do.  Coventry had their portion done in 1 week.  I'd hate to think if this happened and we had cancer, been in a car wreck, or having a baby.  I mean I really appreciate the great insurance plan we are on now - its fabulous - but the process is way harder now because you have to go thru 2 people instead of 1.

  • What a relief!
  • I'm so glad that finally got worked out! I was mad for you.

I had gotten to a point where it was like a joke and I took it really lightly because there was nothing really I could stress about - at some point it would get taken care of.  But there were a few times where lots of cuss words came out of my mouth, I called the senators office incase I needed help with it, and I would do a lot of yoga after my frustration.

That poor senator. lol.  Hopefully they're learning that this seems to be a common trend and something needs to be done about it.  What a mess, but I'm so glad things finally got cleaned up.

    Poor unpaid interns, actually...

I spent a summer working for a Senator in college.  My job was to tally the complaints from constitutions and send those tallies to the person above me who supposedly sent them to the person above her who supposedly sent them to the Senator once a week. I have no idea if he ever received or read them, and I never once met him.

There was a day when sh*t hit the fan in the Senate, and we got flooded with angry calls.  All of the paid staff left at lunch and made the unpaid interns stay until closing to field the phone calls.  It was horrible.

Not going to lie, I didn't vote for him in the next election.

What was crazy was the number of people who would call because "my TV said to call this number if I want X."  Most of the time they would have no idea who they were calling. They would come in waves.  You would get like 20-30 every time that commercial aired.  Those people had their own category for tallies - "TV callers" - so the Senator could basically ignore them.

Then one time I had a high school student call for help on her social studies homework.  That one was actually kind of fun, but I told her I wasn't just going to give her the answers.  We would have to look stuff up online together.  I did help her though, because I thought that she should get some credit for calling her Senator's office for help.  It was pretty creative.

Sure it's the interns.  I didn't actually get to the point where I mailed all my paperwork it.  I was just about to get it all together for them when I thought I'd call the appeals center 1 more time to see if they came to a conclusion - it took them 5 months.  They did come to a conclusion when I called that last time.  My plan was to have the Senator help me get them to make a decision - I had about had it and couldn't take the stupidity any more.  I called the Dem Senator first but her person never called me back so I was going to worth the the R senator.
