Anyone have experience with skilled nursing facilities, amputation and cardiac rehab?
I know our community is not very active anymore but this is not something I really want to post on Facebook. My dad had a heart attack, double by pass surgery and an above the knee leg amputation. I am in the midst of choosing a skilled nursing facility for him to be transferred to once he is out of CCU. Those of you who know me IRL know that my mom passed away decades ago and my dad 's girlfriend is a full 10 years older than him so she won't be much help. If you would prefer to discuss privately, please email me at babyblooming bouquets @ gmail

We also have a parishioner at Cranberry Place. (I THINK they have skilled nursing.) While I have not visited her there, she also spoke highly of it!
I am assuming South Hills are is not on your list, but I have a recommendation there if you'd like.
I was not a fan of Manor Care here in the North when I visited there, but it has been over 10 years... (Visited 2 different times...two different patients...)
I think the best thing you can do is be an advocate for your Dad. If you see something, step up. And if something doesn't feel right, ask questions! I'd be glad to talk with you more if you need to!
Also, sometimes places have waiting lists, so it is good to put his name on now. (Even on multiple lists....you can always turn a space down.) The hospital SHOULD have advocates and social workers to help you navigate this, too. I may have some other resources, but am crazy swamped today. I'll dig aroudn and let you know!
