Is there a DEM debate tonight?

I know I may be the only one that watches debates from both sides.  I heard that there is one on tonight at 8pm with MSNBC hosting. I'm hoping to see a little more attacks from both candidates.  I feel they were all nice to each other in the first debate back in October.  Just wanted to start a thread in case anyone is interested.

  • There's one tonight but I think I'm going to miss it. We're travelling to Florida tonight and I doubt we'll stop driving early enough to watch. I'm curious to see how it will be now that Hilary and Bernie are forced to directly face each other rather than deflect onto a third candidate.

I've been listening to a lot of talk today that they'll probably fight over the meaning of "progressive". Oi.
  • Yes, there is one tonight.
  • Yup there's one tonight.  Did anyone watch last night's town hall on CNN?  It was steps away from my childhood home.  Weird to see all those people there!

We don't have cable so I didn't see it.

  • I didn't watch but I saw the highlights this morning.  Looks like it may have been a good one.  Clinton got a little fired up.  From what I saw in the clip (which only presents so much and without a lot of context) I liked the way she defended herself.  She called out Sanders in a firm but respectful way.
  • I also didn't watch it but saw some clips. I think Hilary came off as shrill and a little like a cornered snake. She is the establishment's candidate and for her to try to imply she isn't is preposterous.
  • Guys I got caught up with the Bernie Madoff movie on TV last night so I didn't catch the debate like I had wanted too.  I will catch the next one though.

  • Of course she's establishment candidate, but I don't see that as bad.  In fact, I think she's correct in her line of attacks about Sanders that he's living in a dream world and she gets things done.  There are practicalities to life.

I did too. I didn't finish the second half, though. I'm also getting into the mini series, "The People v OJ Simpson".

we watched it both Wens and Thurs.  I didn't realized how many people he screwed over and how much money he embezzled.  How horrible about his son committing suicide.  I had no idea.  The whole thing is sad.  What a horrible person he was.

  • Republican debates tonight.
  • I missed the very beginning. I thought Hilary came across as very smirky and with an attitude of "Why are we here?" as if she's already received the official nomination. It really irritated me. I haven't made a decision on who I want to vote for this year at all and this debate didn't really help either.

curious do they ever talk about the economy with DEM debates?  The only ones I've seen all they talk about are getting rid of big banks, climate change, gun reform, and health care.

  • @vlagirl29 The main talking points I took away from this debate focused on:

    - Foreign policies - What are the candidates plans in Afghanistan? How do they want to deal with ISIS? Diplomacy with our enemies. Foreign trade agreements.

    - Campaign finance

    - College tuition

    - Prosecuting people like Bernie Madoff

    - There was SOME discussion about health care but nothing that really stuck out to me. I could have missed it if it was in the beginning.

I honestly don't remember direct questions about the economy but that's a really really broad scope. The economy encompasses a lot IMO and some of their discussions around students drowning in debt, big banks making bad loan decisions, etc. definitely relate to the economy.

yeah I get that.  I see how those things relate to the economy.  I would like to hear how they would not increase our national debt by trillions.

You won't hear them discuss it because it will probably double. lol

Yeah. Obama's proposed new budget is out now. $4.1 Trillion in spending. It would be more of the same with Clinton or Sanders or most likely even worse.
