Weekend Plans?

What does everyone have going on? TGIF!

Re: Weekend Plans?

  • We are in the middle of a snow storm! 3-6" and we are already at 4". I made it early to work today and it should be done by the afternoon so should be good for the ride home. I took H's SUV and I only live 10 minutes from work so I'm lucky...I just don't get why they didn't let people telecommute....

    Anyway, rant over.

Friday- Just hanging out, clearing snow, catching up on The Blacklist from last night (love that show!)

    Saturday- Painting our bathroom

    Sunday- More painting maybe? Gym

Nothing too exciting but not sure what else will pop up.

  • 4-day weekend for me!!!  Oh yeah!

Being in NOLA, Mardi Gras is on Tuesday and it is a holiday at my work.  In fact, the main parade route goes directly in front of our offices.  So then I'm also taking Monday as a vacation day.  Just to make it a 4-dayer ;).

But my H and I are boring, lol.  Are we going to Bourbon St.?  Are we going to any parades?  Hell no.  In fact, we are actually leaving town on Saturday for Biloxi.  We're staying overnight at one of my favorite hotels and have tickets for a Pat Benatar show Saturday night.  Love her!!!

We come back Sunday mid-dayish.  Toodle around the house and then start getting yummy food ready for the Superbowl.  I have some buffalo wings ready to go.  I'm making two dips.  Onion dip made with plain Greek yogurt and celery sticks for dipping.  Plus my world famous guacamole...or, at least famous with anyone who has had it, lol.

Monday and Tuesday, I'm just going stay in bed with the covers over my head until the Mardi Gras season goes away.  Actually, I will be continuing to tidy up/organize my house.  Maybe take a cue from you @jessica490 and do some painting of our back addition.  That's been waiting in the wings a long time.  On Tuesday (Mardi Gras), my H and I might hit a few local bars in the morning/mid-day because a lot of walking clubs head out from there.  So, they are fun places to hang out.

  • Someday I'll make it to NOLA for Mardi Gras, but not this year.  We did have some pretty awesome king cake delivered to the office this week though.  It's kind of funny because the last two years the person who has gotten the baby actually HAD a baby, so this year one of the younger staff members found the baby and dug it out before cutting the cake.  She said she didn't want to risk it, lol.

Friday - pizza night, as always.

Saturday - Probably taking out the vanity in our basement bathroom.  We are going to have a company come in and spray the horrible terracotta-colored tile white since that bathroom is used approximate 2 times per year and is really more for show than anything.  I've read the spray doesn't hold up great to years of constant use, but it should be totally fine for our purposes and WAY cheaper than replacing the tile that's in there.

We'll also run errands and do our annual Saturday-before-Superbowl-Sunday Costco visit where we go at lunch and eat samples.  It's the best sample day of the year!  The last few years our Costco has given out wings.

Sunday - we'll probably watch a little of the superbowl, but we don't really care about the teams this year.  I need to do some studying, and hopefully we'll make time to exercise.

Friday night- catching up with a friend

Saturday- it's free museum day so my friend and I are spending the morning at a children's museum with our kiddos and then doing lunch. Then I'll be pruning roses the rest of the day!

Sunday-  church, and more yard work and house cleaning. Also, I'll do my Costco and grocery store trip in the afternoon- the stores are empty at that time because of the Superbowl, it's great! I don't watch the Superbowl, I couldn't care less about football, even though it's being hosted 2 hours away from where I live and I know people volunteering at it.. but still.. don't care lol.

It's supposed to be 70 this weekend so I just want to spend time outside on a walk and doing yard work.

  • Tonight--We have tickets to a play at the local community theater.  We might grab dinner beforehand.

Saturday--Big plans to clean out the spare bedroom, haha.  It's the only place left in our house that we haven't de-cluttered and it's also the worst.

Sunday--Finish up with the spare room and take anything over to my Mom's house to sell (she likes selling things on FB); grocery shopping; I also need to do some homework for my two classes so I'll probably do that while H watches the Super Bowl.

*We might give in and buy a new hot water heater this weekend because I'm sick of juggling when we can do laundry/showers/dishes, so I might do cleaning the spare room by myself if H is occupied with removing the old and installing the new.  We haven't built new stairs to our basement yet, so the existing staircase is partially covered up and really kind of dangerous.  It's going to be a B-word to replace the hot water heater.

  • Today - DDs dance class this morning, steam cleaning some carpets this afternoon, help DD practice violin, and go out to eat this evening

Saturday - long story but my grandma and mom haven't spoken in awhile and I'm finally gathering up the courage to stop by my grandmas house tomorrow morning and visit with her.  I do miss her and she is the only living grandparent that I have that we have kept in touch with as a family.

DHs studio is getting concrete poured on Saturday so he wants us to come down for a bit and watch - slowly but surely this thing is getting up.  Framing starts end of Feb/early March

Sunday - Yoga in morning, more steam cleaning carpet in afternoon and some time this weekend I need to do our monthly Target trip.

  • SUPER BOWL!!!! GO BRONCOS!!!  (can you tell we're in Broncos country? haha!)

Heh, so yeah, that's our main plan this weekend, we are hosting a party.  Expecting around 15-20 people to come.

Friday: Going to Costco after work in the hopes it won't be too crowded, to get some of my party stuff, and to just re-stock on other items since I got paid today.

Saturday: Going to the regular grocery store to finish up the party shopping.  Laundry and getting H's work clothes ready, he is flying to CA before dawn on Monday morning.  Working on cleaning the house, and prepping some of the food so Sunday won't be such a mad rush.  We are going to a hockey game in the evening, and we may go out to eat beforehand... yesterday was the anniversary of our first date, and of the day we got engaged a year ago :)  Our first date was to a daytime hockey game on a Saturday, and we went to a pizza place afterwards, so we might flip it since the game doesn't start til 8pm.  We'll see.

Sunday:  Party Party Party.  The morning will be spent cleaning my wood floors.  I don't do it as often as I should in the winter, since with dogs, it's pretty much pointless.  So it'll take a couple hours to do all the mopping etc. Then the rest of the day is devoted to the party.

That is a pet peeve I have about stadiums...or maybe its the NFL in general...that host the Superbowl.  Both the host stadium and the NFL make upteen millions of dollars on the Superbowl.  But they hire VOLUNTEERS for many of the positions.  Really?  Really!?!?  Y'all really can't afford to pay...maybe...100-200 people minimum wage for a day.  I side-eye it hard.

And most of the volunteers don't even get to see the game at all.  Some of them aren't even in the stadium.

  • Friday: We're meeting with a general contractor at our house to discuss a few things we want to have done. We have an over-the-stove oven to be installed and we'd like to have the kitchen painted before it's installed because the previous owners left the walls/ceilings in bad shape. We've even washed the walls but the grease and other spots still show. We are also looking at remodeling our full bath, and potentially half bath, depending on the cost. We'll see :)

Saturday: all-day paczki-making marathon! Our church makes 800+ paczki using our family recipe (they are REAL paczki, not the donuts that some bakeries like to say are paczki!). It's a lot of work but it's a really fun day.

Sunday: drag ourselves out of bed for church because someone needs to sell the paczki...lol. Then be lazy because we earned it on Saturday, and go to my parents' for the Superbowl even though I don't care for the teams. Mostly going because my mom will feed us! haha.
  • Friday- homemade pizza night. Dough is rising right now. The girls requested hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream for dessert. Just got back from a pre-pre-k conference for DD#2. She's doing awesome- on track and already working on tracing and cutting. She can spell her name and count to 40 (only required to count to 5) and knows her ABC's. Super smart- just like her sister.

Saturday- my parents visit the girls and we clean the house, recaulk around the tub, Target, grocery shop, dinner with DH's parents.

Sunday- laundry, relax, hopefully get a baby gift quilted, Super Bowl.. probably have some yummy food for DH and the girls.

  • Tonight- laundry and cleaning. Tomorrow- back to my parents' to help them with boxing stuff up and moving it into storage. This is going to be my life for the next few months every weekend that I'm off work. I'm happy to help them, and they really need the help, but they live 100 miles from my home, so it makes for long Saturdays. Sunday- we're having a few people over. Nothing big, and not a lot of people. But I certainly don't want to go out, I know it's going to be packed everywhere.

Seriously. I have no idea why they even want to volunteer. And it's driving me nuts how they keep saying it's San Francisco hosting, the event is in Santa Clara which is like 30-45 minutes away from San Fran. My brother used to live right by the new arena and we'd drive by it all the time. The freeway it's off of sucks. It's going to be terrible there Sunday I'm sure..

  • Kind of quiet for us, clean up around the house some, do some errands and dinner at the in laws on Sunday for an early birthday celebration for me. The big thing for us is shopping to get supplies for my husband because he starts his pre-surgery gastric bypass diet on Tuesday. Only 18 days until surgery.

Amen. And using the term "volunteers" in this capacity makes me stabby. So does the idea of the NFL as a "nonprofit" (fortunately they gave up this status in 2015). Disgusting.

  • Supposed to be headed to Brooklyn for the weekend tonight, but we're getting a lot of snow. Hopefully it will wind down soon so we can hit the road! We'll be back to watch the Super Bowl at home Sunday. Bummed to have the Pats miss it so narrowly and will definitely be rooting for Carolina!
  • Pretty quiet weekend here...

tonight: i'll cook b/c there is too much snow to go out, i saw a nice bottle of wine on the counter, so I guess we'll pop that open. Saturday: cleaning, laundry, grocery shop. Once it snows we are stuck in the city until it  melts, can't risk losing a prime parking spot. Sunday: we're hosting friends for the Super Bowl which means, more cleaning & i'm making white bean chicken chili (YUM!). In between everything, we're binge-watching LOST, i never saw it & am loving it.

My husband just watched every episode of Lost in less then 2 weeks. I had already seen it, but it was fun to watch a lot of it again. Addicting!

  • today is the last official day of my maternity leave, I'm back to work monday (insert many tears and sad faces here).

H is on the night shift now, so it's just me a LO tonight, I have big plans to finish setting up our home office, so once I'm back to work full time and spiltting my time at home I'll be ready to jump right in. My evening will also include our new bedtime routine plus a bath, so bathtime, baby massage, snuggle PJs, nursing and hopefully in bed by 8:30-9ish.

I was hoping to spend my last days as an at home mommy just the three of us, however my in-laws are up and those plans have gone out the window. I'm hoping we'll still get a good amount of alone time. I don't even care if we watch the superbowl, the pats didn't make it so my level of caring is even less than it was a few weeks ago.

Saturday: Celebrating Christmas with family we haven't had a chance to get together with yet.  It was supposed to be last weekend but DD was sick.  Also grocery shopping.

Sunday:  Church and the Super Bowl.  We're not into football but my 4 year old loves it and is excited to see the game.  He actually asked if we could go see it in person lol.

Friday: I got out of work early to go to an appointment but it got cancelled due to snow, so I went home early.  We both took two hour naps (I NEVER nap but got 4 hours of sleep last night), now H is getting takeout pizza.

Saturday: Going to Newport RI for the night.  We will stop at Newport Vineyards to stock up on some wine, then go out to dinner.  H is going to start working a lot of on call weekends soon, so we are taking advantage of weekends together right now.

Sunday: Go out to breakfast, then head home to get our dog from my parents.  After 24 hours we will miss her like crazy! We are pathetic dog people.  I will do some chores at home & do some cooking so we can have some home cooked meals.   I'm not sure if H is going to watch the super bowl  - he isn't a huge football fan but was pretty depressed after the Pats lost.

Not much going on this weekend but I think I'm fighting off a new cold so that is probably for the best.

Fri - staying in with H
Sat - taking the dog to an event at the pet store, gym, grocery shopping
Sun - free admission at the museum in our neighborhood so we might pop in.  Getting ready and making food for the SB.  We'll have 3 or 4 friends over to watch.

Sorry I'm late to respond!  It's certainly way too old now.  But, as long as the cake part is still soft, I'd go for it.  It doesn't need to be refrigerated and I don't think there is anything in the cake that goes bad...as in food safety bad.
