Republican Debate Last Night
I missed it. It's on a Saturday, so stupid.
I did tape it, but after reading about how badly Rubio did, I think I don't want to see it. I'll just get upset. I'm really angry with Christie and Bush for going after Rubio in the way he has. It's so damn desperate. Their big means of attack is that Rubio hasn't been in NH answering real question. I have attended Christie and Rubio events and both answered my questions clearly and neither gave me canned responses. It's such a bull shit line of attack. True that Christie and Bush have put all their eggs in the NH basket and Rubio is looking past NH, so he hasn't made quite as many appearances, but he's been here every week for months just like everyone else.
I also read that Trump attacked the audience when they booed him saying they were all donors and the only reason they didn't like him was because he didn't want their money. I want to be perfectly clear here, because I know how the ticketing process works for debates (at least in NH)- each candidate is given a certain number of tickets (so Trump had his own group there) and the rest are put into a random lottery. Anybody who has ever had their name on any political list (sign up to get notifications for a candidate or such) was offered to have their name put in a lottery. This isn't a stacked crowd of rich donors. That's not how it works, but I'm afraid that once again, Trump lied and people won't know any better.
Did anyone else watch it? What did you think?
Re: Republican Debate Last Night
Christie ticked me off the most at the last debate.
This alone would turn me right off of Christie. How do you forget about a major terrorist attack? Okay, so in a "live" situation an easy slip of the tongue. But he has an ad where he says the same thing, how did nobody catch that mistake? I'm sure that 9/11 probably hit him harder since he lived in the area, but he is talking to people in NH. People who probably have similar stories to his, but about the Boston marathon bombings.
Before I saw Christie in person, I thought I'd hate him. In reality, I disagree with him on most issues, but he is charming in person and I was charmed. He seems incredibly sincere and un-political in a good way. I like that he's been a Republican governor in a liberal state and still managed to work with his Democratic congress. To me that shows leadership. I still think he's a good leader, but I realized he's quite political in all the worst ways.
I've seen them. Basically sounds like people didn't like his political beliefs...nothing new. And, that they often got rubbed the wrong way by his personality. Yep. Some people are tougher to get a long with.
I'm not really sure I'll stick it to a candidate based on what people from a few decades ago stated about him. He's 44 now. Let's say he spent time in school in his 20's. That's 2 decades ago. If people made decisions about me based on what I said/did in college, then that would be unfortunate because I've grown and changed a lot.
I don't like what happened with Carson's campaign and for that reason I'm leery of Cruz. His rhetoric about faith and religion doesn't bother me. I get what he means there.
