SC Results

Bush is out. He dropped out even before the end of the votes were in.

I cannot believe people are voting for Trump. He is projected to win SC.

What do people see in him??? Seriously, I am asking that seriously. Anyone here know that answer?

Re: SC Results

  • I predicted a trump win so I'm not shocked by it.  I am shocked that Bush already dropped out - I thought he would hang on longer.  There is another debate this Thursday.  Hilary won NV today.

I don't know the answer why people want Trump as the nom.  I'm guessing because they are tired of the same ole politicians and really believe he will do what he says and not lie.

Remember when "binders full of women" was the worst thing Romney said last election cycle?

I also read an article that a precinct in NV was tied between the 2 of them and there was a card draw - hillary drew an Ace, bernie a 6 - How can she be winning all these tie votes?  Its rigged I swear.

Bolded. I hear people's concern on the "Washington as usual" issue. But, Carson would be a FAR better outsider than Trump. He actually has class. Yeah. He is soft spoken.

LOL on "binders." That was blown way out of proportion. Obviously, a misspoken statement. But, I'd take that any day over Trump's crud.

I agree with a lot of his ideas, such as the wall, etc., because that idea and others echo what other decent candidates say. What I cannot stand is his inability to be dignified and composed. I hate the hubris. I detest the way he dismisses people.

  • DH has a theory that he's only acting like this to get in the media so people will keep hearing his name.  He never acted like that on the apprentice.  DH thinks that IF he did become president, Trump would not act like he is now.

I read an article last night that there hasn't been a candidate that won both NH and SC that hasn't been the nom.  I have no idea how accurate that is.

Interesting. When we pin Trump against Clinton, who is favored to win? Trump versus Sanders?

Also do you think it will be a contested convention for the R's this year?  Is that the right word?  It will be interesting to see how that goes down.

I hate to say it - if it truly is Trump vs clinton or sanders - I think Trump will win.  I see Clinton being the Nom just because of all the stuff that has come out about super delegates and all her luck? with coin tosses and card drawing.

I think trump is maybe the most calculated politician ever. He's just selling s brand that appeals to our bizarre political climate. I'm so upset about trump. I just can't anymore

Clinton almost every time and sanders almost everytime. Trump is the weakest republican front runner in a general and polls support that. Rubio is by far the strongest and he needs to push that. He beats Clinton in every poll match up

Very possible! If trump can't pull more than 30% then the delegates will be split between the top 3 candidates
  • The fact that Trump keeps winning makes me want to throw things. I also seriously can't understand what people see in him. I believe that what got him off the ground is simply the mere exposure effect-we like that which is familiar. And Donald Trump was definitely familiar since he has been in an out of the tabloids for decades with his affairs and his 'Your fired" mantra. He appeals to the Baby Boomer generation that is slowly losing its control of America as it ages out of the workforce, which makes sense, but that can't be all of his support. There has to be some rational Baby Boomers who can use logic and reasoning and who do actually care about America.

I'm hoping and praying that Jeb's votes will go straight to Rubio and pull him up enough to defeat Trump and Cruz. I don't think Cruz can beat Trump, and I don't think his slimy election tactics are helping him at all.

I think if it's Trump vs. Sanders, Trump will win. Sanders doesn't have much appeal outside of the white Millennial crowd. If it's Trump vs. Hillary...that could be a very tight race. If it is Trump vs. Sanders, I am considering voting Sanders. I think he would be a 1 term president because of his age, and I don't think he would even be able to start most of the things he promises. If it is Trump vs. Hillary, I don't think I will vote at all.
  • I think Jebs support will go to Rubio.  I heard Trump has the lead in the next upcoming 8 state primaries.  I couldn't vote for sanders because of how fiscally conservative I am.  I can't vote for hilary because of all her lying.  I have no idea what the hell I will do.

  • There hasn't been any polling done in months in Super Tuesday states that I can find. So far I can only see polling as far out as Nevada

The further this goes the more I see how bad everyone is and how Rubio is the only hope. Now we just need everyone to wake the hell up. And for everyone still considering Cruz a viable option: not only did he have robo calls telling people in SC last week that trump was dropping out, a couple days ago Rubio canceled an event when someone in the audience fainted. Cruz had robo calls saying the event had been canceled because Rubio was dropping out. This is on top of the Carson thing and then him trying to blame CNN for it. I think the GOP should force him to drop out. This is beyond dirty political tricks. This is immoral and disgusting.

AGREE! I've been saying this too.

  • I'm surprised and not surprised. I'm not sure I could really actually vote for Trump. However, like a lot of other people I'm tired of the trotting out of the same old suspects every election and that goes for BOTH parties. I'm tired of a bunch of people who say they want to help me/us/the little people/everyone/the marginalized/the middle class/ the poor or whatever cause seems to show up on the radar screen in their focus groups but really just being career politicians who have no idea how the real world works and who have had already extensive careers and time to DO some of the stuff they are talking about. However they were too worried abut damaging their OWN careers so they didn't touch any third rails to try to bring about any real change. Carson does seem like the logical choice after that but I think his softspoken nature hurts him in this case. He hasn't made the kind of bold statements that the media splashes everywhere ad naseum resulting in free publicity for Trump. Many voters probably didn't know enough about Carson so as a thumbing of the nose of the establishment who pretty much failed to follow through in everything they promised last time, people checked the Trump box. I'm definitely personally at the point that it feels like we woke up in an alternative universe where we debate things that mean nothing in the current scheme of things (way too much weight on social issues) vs. things that impact the majority of us like financial/national security issues. I need someone who is not going to worry so much about crafting that public image but who really might get *something* done. I wish it was a different outsider than Trump :/ I have no idea what I will do come election time because right now I can't stomach anyone on either side for different reasons.

One of the best comments I've heard during an election (not by a politician) was during the election year with McCain/Sarah Palin and Obama and Clinton.

A reporter asked a random woman in a parking lot if, as female politicians go, she preferred Palin or Clinton.  Her response was something like, "Well, they both wear eyeglasses that cost more than I make in an entire paycheck, so I don't really relate to either one of them."

I think of all the remaining Republican candidates, Carson relates to the most Americans. He's outside "Washington as usual." Box checked. And, he has a real, true understanding of being extremely poor, middle class, and then wealthy. Box checked. He is diplomatic. Box checked. Intelligent. Box checked. Executive experience at both Johns Hopkins and in his non-profits. Box checked. I know Carson will hang through Nevada. I hope he hangs on through Super Tuesday because I want to give him my vote.

I agree somewhat.   however, I don't love his drug stance. We spend so much money on the "war on drugs" that would be so much better spent on things that if they went well we'd likely see less drug use anyway. I also don't like getting rid of the mortgage deduction. It's the only thing that doesn't completely screw my family over about our tax system. If they whole thing was scrapped and reworked I'd be in favor. However, it might be the straw that broke the camel's back if they ditch it and the charitable deduction.

I know what you mean on the taxes. There are little nuances like this about every candidate that I don't like. It's never going to be 100% perfect is the way I see it so who holds the views that fulfill 95% of my desires for POTUS and has the class too?
  • MommyLiberty5013 You actually get 95% with Carson?  LOL I'm happy when I can agree with a simple majority political stances.  *sigh*  I need to run for president! BlueBird '16!  LMAO

We don't always agree on political issues.  But I'd vote for you over most of the candidates out there, lol.

Haha. Maybe like 90 percent. But I like the guy. I think he covers the "simple majority political stances" as you phrased it. And he has good character and intellect. And he's outside DC.
