A vote for Carson is a Vote for Trump

a friend forwarded me this article about how the delegate process works and that is the click bait title :). I've never fully understood how this part of the process worked so for that reason alone I found it interesting. As someone who has scratched their head a bit at the level of support Trump has seemed to receive this shed a bit of light on how some of that is coming about. Essentially any vote for someone other than the top runners goes to the winner even if they have won by a hair. If you are frustrated with the insider type of politics and same old same old, a vote for someone outside of the currently well supported establishment goes basically to the same old same old anyway or Trump :( However, it's an interesting thing for me because once the field is culled I don't necessarily see the supporters for people like Carson going over to Trump which makes it anybody's game again.

Re: A vote for Carson is a Vote for Trump

  • I'm with you. I think the GOP needs to get their heads out of their asses and realize that trump will never win a general and is giving the entire party a bad name. They need to cut some deals and get kasich and Carson to drop out. It's all about delegates

Except that I really think he might win the general election, only because Hillary isn't a strong candidate either. After Nevada, I seriously feel like throwing up. And I have to go sit through dinner with my grandparents tomorrow and all they talk about is politics and how much they love Trump.
  • Trump is going to draw more blue collar democrats than people think.  One of my colleagues just got back from a business trip and said his cab driver looked at him and said, "I am nearly 60 years old, and I've voted democrat my whole life, but Trump is the only man who can save this country."

    It's crazy.

The delegates thing is really interesting.  H works for a guy who is a Rubio delegate, and it's been interesting to hear his perspective.  FWIW, Trump scares him and the other committed delegates too.  He thinks the GOP is about to self-destruct.

I'm with you as well.  I think he CAN win a general election……seriously we didn't think he would get this far but he is.  I just wonder how the Dems will attack him once he is the nominee.

I think it's been doing so already just slowly over the past 10-12 years. I never thought I'd "throw away my vote" by voting for someone other than a republican conservative for president (although locally and state I tend to vote more on particular issues regardless of party) but this time I'm probably voting third party. Or Tom Selleck. Or Donald Duck.

I love that he's gotten a great second career as the Police Commissioner in Blue Bloods.  Have a crush on you again, Magnum ;).

    And back to politics...

    I heart Tom too!
  • LMAO I'm writing in Tom Selleck now
  • going off on a complete tangent Tom is actually a pretty nice guy. My now deceased father in law was foreign and wasn't really "up" on American culture. He once took a transatlantic flight and was very tired on the last leg. He fell asleep on the shoulder of the man next to him. He woke up and saw what he'd done and apologized profusely. The man told him not to worry about it, that he was obviously very tired and that he was happy to have helped him out any way that he could. As he got off the flight, the flight attendant told him "There are a lot of women on this flight who would have liked to have fallen asleep on Tom Selleck's shoulder!". He had no idea who that was but came home and told his family about it. Shortly after Tom appeared on tv and my father in law starts shouting "That's him! That's the guy I fell asleep on during the flight!" He was surprised to find out what a big deal Tom Selleck really was over here LOL.

    and now back to politics...
