DH and I are buying a new home. It has been fun picking out all of our options and colors and watching the house become a reality. The granite countertops went in a couple of weeks ago. We got to pick out our slabs at the tile place, and were excited about our beautiful light-colored granite. However, after it was installed, we noticed several areas getting these big greenish-blush spots and they look awful. At first I chalked it up to oversight on our part, but it just didn't feel right so we went and looked it up online. Apparently, it's called green bloom and it happens when the glue or accelerator (or something) reacts with the chemical makeup of the granite after it is installed. I checked our granite disclosure documents and I think we can legally make them replace it if they can't get the stain out.
Has anyone had experience removing this type of stain? What did you use and how well did it work?
Re: Anyone ever experienced green bloom?
Oh no! That must be so disappointing. I'm not familiar with this granite problem, so I unfortunately don't have any advice for you, but at least wanted to send out my sympathies.
I hope the rest of your house building goes smoothly and that your granite people make this right.
